CES 2008: Mitsubishi's 50" Laser TV Changes the High-Definition Game (With an Exclusive Gallery!)
In the crowded Moon Nightclub at the Palms Casino earlier tonight, Mitsubishi gave the press an exclusive first look at its finished Laser TV HD monster.
According to Mitsubishi, the TV delivers 2X as much color as the other top televisions that will be released this year, because Lasers provide the most extensive range colors, the most clarity, and the best depth of field. Check out the particular science behind this tech right here.
The Laser TV comes embedded with a Real-D 3D processor so that, with the specific glasses (like those you get at top IMAXes,) you will be able to see some top of the line 3D programming at home.
The Lasers will be released late this year, around Black Friday, and will retail over the price of current LCDs. We’ll follow up with more details and an exclusive interview with the Vice President of the US division.
In the meantime, check out our gallery below.

I read an article that a company in southern calif got a contract to develop laser for the hi-def tv market. The company QPC Lasers. It is traded on the market QPCI.OB
So on the supply end, Laser tv seems to be gaining momentum

What's your personal opinion of Laser TV after viewing it in person? Are the colors rich and vibrant? Is it the brightest and sharpest image you ever seen on a TV? I'll be following this technology and you can check out my blog at laser-television.com

Does the laser TV image exhibit the 'screen door effect'? Would they be making a 24" model for PC use? Would they be as bright as an LCD? When will it be available in Europe/Asia and the rest of the world? I've read that (www.i4u.com/article13377.html) laser TVs could cost as low as $50 to make. I guess I'll follow this through on laser-television.com

Ready to purchase a 72 or 73 inch LaserDLP as soon as they're avaialable. Just hope my current 60 inch Hitachi holds on until they're released and the bugs get worked out.

I also want to know if this is a scanning architecture like a CRT or merely a different light source with an inferior sample-and-hold only type of display. It would be great if it employed raster or row scanning to eliminate retinal blurring and ghosting. Please see wikipedia entry on HDTV blur for details.

Jay asked if it will beat a CRT.
ANY HD tv produced in the last couple years is far better then ANY non-high def TV, including some nice Sony Wega's. If you are considering at least a 40", which you should, you can get really good one's for a less than a thousand, and excellent ones for $1500.

Like so many others, I have been waiting to see if these laser tv's are worth the wait and, saving up the extra money. But where the hell are they? Give me a damn actual release date that I can go and see one with my own eyes! Or you will loose a customer to Samsungs new lcd tv with a 500,000:1 contrast ratio. Stop playing the market and put the tv out there!

Understand Mitsubishi will not be offering any laser HDTV less than 60+" and the price is ridiculous considering it has been reported that the manufacture price is about 50% of LCD, Plasma, etc.
With smarts they could kill the competition.

SO, THis TV is such a shame!
Hype adn piss poor performance.
Wet to the Mobile Van in Redding Today and the Attendant did not know his TV froma Hole in the Ground
THey had it set up with an LCD TV beside it and the LCD looked MUCH BETTER!!!!
The Attendant did not know the specs or why the TV had a GRAINY LOOK to it.
Either the dude did not have the TV set up properly, OR it may have been a BAD one or they just do not have their act together.
Matter of fact, I left there disgusted and glad that I will NOT be plunking down a huge chunk of change on that Junker Clunker adn Totally Over BLown Retarded TV.
