MobileMe in meltdown?

Been trying to access MobileMe today? Hope you had more success than us...

The iPhone fanfare is almost reaching a deafening crescendo, but over on the MobileMe front it's the silence that's deafening. After initially launching at me.com today, the service has now returned to a "coming soon" message, after users reporting excruciatingly slow load times.

What's more, existing .Mac customers have reported that the existing service have been down for most of the day "for scheduled maintenance". Hmmm – trouble over at Apple?

This is more than a little annoying for anyone who runs their businesses and emails on a .Mac account. Let us know if you've had any issues...

my .mac mails are taking over an hour to arrive and I am not receiving any right now!

Well, 9pm... looks like NASA has a major problem. Surprising that Apple hadn't anticipated the mini-riot that'll kick off if they don't get it running soon. A buddy runs his local photo business using the Galleries; I can imagine he's taking it quite seriously.

I imagine Steve Jobs is taking it quite seriously. CAn you imagine the Wrath? I wouldn't want to be an Apple techie right now! FWIW my .Mac email is working pretty quickly through the Mail.app and I can still access my iDisk and sync contacts and appointment, but there's no web access.

Come on Apple, sort it out - you don't want to blow your big day, do you?

Web access is still down - Apple make a miniscule apology on .Mac support site:

I love the bit that says 'can't get webmail access? Try your desktop email software!'  Very useful - NOT.

It's now up - but only via www.me.com - no redirect from mac.com

MobileMe's woes haven't let up since the .Mac replacement finally went live with the launch of the iPhone
