3DMark Vantage Hotfix Released

3DMark Vantage received some strong feedback on some of the choices made during the development. There were also some small but annoying bugs found only after launch. A hotfix to polish things up was announced a couple of weeks ago. It took slightly longer than originally anticipated, but it's here, and offers some important changes and fixes to 3DMark Vantage.

It looks like Futuremark listened to the customer feedback - and there was plenty of it. In addition to fixing many outstanding technical issues, there are some changes...

  • Off-line score viewing is now available in the Advanced Edition.
  • Score save / submit saved options are now available in the Advanced Edition.
  • Ad banners have been removed from all editions.

So all the ad banners some people hated so much are gone from the user interface - and they are gone from all editions of the benchmark. Also the functionality to benchmark offline, previously limited to the Pro version, has been included to the Advanced edition. Basic and Trial users are still required to submit their results to view the score, but it's now optional for the Advanced edition.

There are also some bugfixes. They probably won't cover every issue reported as Futuremark indicated that the goal of the hotfix was to get out a quick fix to sort out the obvious issues that were easy to reproduce and mend. To help track and reproduce any outstanding issues, a built-in error reporting feature was also added. The fixes included do not alter any benchmarking results - any variation you may see in your score after installing the hotfix should be just the usual variance within the margin of error.

Note that all previously requested and used trial keys have been re-enabled for another run - just install the hotfix and run the Trial again. If you have misplaced your key, just request it again and it will be re-sent to you.

Here are the full hotfix notes

3DMark Vantage Hotfix 1.0.1

Overview:

We have made changes in the product editions to better serve our customers. Off- line score is now available in the Advanced edition, and ad banners have been removed. Error messages have been improved, and various bugs have been fixed.

IMPORTANT: The scores are NOT affected by this hotfix, and will remain compatible with version 1.0.0 scores.

Installation:

If you have previously installed the 1.0.0 version of 3DMark Vantage, you can use the smaller 3DMark Vantage Hotfix installer to update to version 1.0.1. Just follow the installation instructions on screen.

If you have not previously installed 3DMark Vantage, you need the full installer package. Run the installer, and follow the instructions on screen.

IMPORTANT: We recommend that you only install 3DMark Vantage using a user account that has Administrator rights on the machine. Installing 3DMark Vantage as a Standard User on Vista is not recommended. Cases where the user has Standard User rights only, and User Account Control (UAC) turned off are specifically not supported, and will not work.

If you have previously installed 3DMark Vantage with Standard User rights, and have any trouble installing the hotfix, please un-install 3DMark Vantage, and re-install using the full installer, using a user account that has Administrator rights on the system.

After the installation, 3DMark Vantage may ask you again for your serial key. Please enter it as previously.

Futuremark encourages everyone to download the latest build (1.0.1) to ensure best compatibility and functionality.
