As you already know, in the third quarter this year Intel it will represent four models of processors core 2 Duo with 1333 MHz system bus, which will fill price niche from $163 to $266, their frequencies in this case will be from 2.33 GHz to 3.0 GHz. Three of them will support TXT technology  (La grande).  in the third quarter for less than $200 it will be possible to purchase as minimum three processors with new core conroe stepping  , which, until now, was known to us under E0 designation . New stepping usually brings improvement in overclocking potential, if among its representatives there are models with the high default frequency. Stepping E0 possesses hopeful sign  - the model core 2 Duo e6850 will reach the default frequency 3.0 GHz.   Coolaler, obtained at its disposal not only the engineering model of processor core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) with 1333 MHz system bus, but also motherboard on base of chipset Intel x38 in the complete set with ddr-3 memory . However, the processor tests were made on motherboard asus commando with chipset Intel p965. After increasing Vcore to 1.41 v, the author of experiment was able to overclock the processor core 2 Duo e6550 (2.33 GHz) to 3.85 GHz. The frequency of system system bus in this case was increased to 550 MHz, Multiplier was set to the maximum value 7x. Amazing result for processor witch cost less than $200. Let us note that CPU- Z version 1.39.2 has not identified the stepping E0 of this processor. Focus attention, that the BIOS of motherboard asus commando support processors stepping E0 . We hope that other E0 stepping representatives will be overclocked as good as this one. Related Products :

	On an ASUS P5K motherboard and the E6550, I can\'t get past 488MHz for a total of 3.4GHz. Any suggestions on how to bump this?

	488 Mhz is already a good result . 1)Try to lower the cpu multiplier and increase your FSB to check if this is already the max for your processor. 2)Lower to the minimum your memory devinder .Try to keep the memory frequency as low as possbile 3)increase your chipset Voltage 4)increase your Vtt voltage 5)Check your chipset and cpu temperature ,and try to improve your cooling

Hi, my system is as follows: Gigabyte P35 DS3P Intel E6550 Core2 Duo Zalman CNPS-9700LED 520W HX Corsair PSU 80mm Thermaltake LED case fan Vista 32-bit Currently my BIOS settings are: Advanced BIOS features: C1E: disabled TM2: disabled EIST: disabled Virtualization Technology: disabled MB Intelligent Tweaker: Robust Graphics Booster: Auto CPU Clock Ratio: 7x CPU Host Frequency: 400 mHz PCI-E Frequency: 100 mHz C.I.A.2: disabled System Memory Multiplier(SPD): 2.00 Memory Frequency:    800     800 High Speed DRAM DLL settings: Option 2 DDR2 Overvoltage: Normal PCI-E Overvoltage: Normal FSB Overvoltage: Normal (G)MCH Overvoltage: Normal CPU Voltage: Normal Normal CPU Vcore: 1.35000V I'm running Prime95 as we speak using Small FFTs, so far stable for 1hr 30mins. Idle Temps using Intel Thermal Analysis Tool read: Processor#1: 35 Degrees Celsius Processor#2: 33 Degrees Celsius Running Prime95 readings were: Processor#1: 40 Degrees Celsius Processor#2: 39 Degrees Celsius I've managed to boot to my desktop at multiplier 7.0x460 FSB but they proved to be unstable, but I wasn't too sure on the voltages to set. By the way my RAM is Corsair Twin2x2048 PC6400 CL4 Dual Channel Kit. Would you be kind enough to give me any tips on these settings? Cheers

	Try to increase your cpu voltage a bit to 1.4 or even 1.45 , bump a bit the chipset voltage , reduce the memory frequency (to take the memory out question).try to cool the north and south bridge for better result (460 FSB stock cooling is already good)

	Hello again, Prime95 has been stable and running for 11 hours now on my settings as above at 2.8gHz, load temps according to TAT were: Processor#1: 40 degreees Celsius Processor#2: 39 degrees Celsius

	y0 peoplez.... I am buying a e6550 & an asus p5k-e . . . I hope I wont have a problem overclocking this processor to over 3.0Ghz right??? Am I getting to optomistic thinking I will be able to run this??? Do i need extra cooling? I have 2 120mm fans & 2 80mm fans. will this be enough?

	You should be able to run at 3 Ghz without problem . There is no need for extra cooling

	depend on your cooling . for the processor (air cooled) do not go above : 1.5v - 1.55v (60-65c). for the ram : for 24/7 usage (no more then 2.2 -2.1v) . The north bridge between 1.4-1.5 .

	Which motherboard did you use for such an impressive overclock? Was anything else aiding the overclock, such as water cooling for example? Have you been able to get better overclocks with different processors?

	asus commando with chipset Intel p965 .This was air cooled . Do not waste your time with E6550 and got with E8200 (4 Ghz stable is in 90 % doable)

Hi, I have E6550, Gigabyte DS3, Kingmax 2*1024 MB !1066! MHZ DDR2, and i use it on 3.11 GHZ, Currently my BIOS settings are: FSB 444, CPU Clock Ratio: 7x Advanced BIOS features:C1E: disabled TM2: disabled EIST: disabled Virtualization Technology: disabled CIA: disabled, High Speed DRAM DLL settings: Option 1, VCORE 1.41. Whit this settings very stable, CPU cooler a Thermaltake CL-P0071 tower. So i think, your RAM the proble. Try to borrow some 1066 mhz rams, and replace your, after this try to overclock.
