Would you believe me if I told you that there are hundreds of motherboard manufacturers? If I asked people to name all the motherboard manufacturers they could, I’d bet most could only come up with ten, or perhaps fifteen names at best. Odds are, more often than not, the name ‘Chaintech’ likely wouldn’t be among them.
While not popular in the enthusiast community, Chaintech is a fairly sizeable manufacturer whose products you might encounter in a great deal of OEM systems, and with good reason. Chaintech’s products are typically solid, inexpensive, and of reasonable quality, perfect for OEM systems, but lack the extras necessary to make them a hit in the enthusiast market.
Today we’ll be taking a look at one such Chaintech product, the 6VJD motherboard. The 6VJD is based on VIA’s new DDR-touting Apollo Pro266, and includes all the latest bells and whistles like ATA100, V-Link, and so on. Could the 6VJD finally be a Chaintech board for the enthusiast? Or just another obscure product destined to be hidden away in OEM systems? Read on to find out.
