Benchmark Setup

Hereís were we get up-close-and-personal with ATiís latest, unfortunately we only were able to get hold of a Radeon 8500 for a few hours so we could not do any extensive testing. Below youíll find the performance benchmarks of the Radeon 8500 going head to head with a GeForce3 and a GeForce2 Pro. The test system is listed below including the drivers and their version numbers.

  • CPU: AMD Athlon 1.4GHz/266 MHz FSB
  • Motherboard: MSI K7T266 Pro-R
  • Memory: 256MB Crucial CL2.5 Certified ECC DDR
  • Videocards: Radeon 8500, GeForce3, GeForce2 Pro
  • Harddisk(s): 2 x IBM Deskstar 60GXP in RAID0
  • DVD/CDROM: Toshiba SD-M1502 16x DVD/48x CDROM
  • Floppy: Generic 1.44 MB
  • Case: Antec SX-840
  • Powersupply: Antec 400-watts AMD-Approved
