Benchmarks, 3D Mark2001

By: Sander Sassen

3D Mark2001, used by many, review sites included, to determine the performance of their graphics subsystem. Although from our point of view the scores are not an accurate representation of real world performance it does offer a good insight into what a graphics accelerator is theoretically capable of. Upon looking at the scores you can see the Radeon 8500 turned in the fastest, with the GeForce3 not trailing far behind. Commendable for sure, but upon looking at the other benchmarks these paint a different picture, conflicting benchmarks, don’t you just love ‘em.
