SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 19 - Seagate's leadership in data storage performance, capacity, and reliability was again demonstrated as MaximumPC magazine selected both Seagate's Barracuda 180 and Cheetah 73LP disc drives for its "Dream Machines 2001" in the September 2001 issue. As the disc drive with the world's largest capacity, the Barracuda 180 can store an astounding 181.6 gigabytes of information in its 3.5-inch form factor. The Cheetah 73LP's combination of blazing 10,000-rpm performance and high capacity of 73.1 gigabytes were ultimately deemed unmatchable by the competition according to MaximumPC's editors. Of the three Dream Machines built by MaximumPC, the Seagate drives were used for the Content Creation Box "Dreadnaught -- a.k.a. The Fridge," described by the editors as "the biggest, baddest, and most well-equipped of our three PC warriors."
