The Versa L320: NEC's New Portable Powerhouse Delivers Optimal Performance, Versatility and Full Compliment of Connectivity Options to Mobile Professionals

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 22, 2001 - NEC Computers Inc., a leading provider of mobile, desktop and server computing solutions for the enterprise market, today introduced its highest performing and most versatile notebook computer, the NEC Versa L320 notebook.

Engineered with the powerful new Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor 1GHz - M, the Versa L320 notebook is a full-featured desktop replacement system capable of handling the most data intensive business applications, 3-D visualization programs and next-generation operating systems. Based on Intel's 830 chipset, the Versa L320 notebook features new power management capabilities, including Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology and Deeper Sleep functionality.

Innovative Expansion Features

To balance performance with versatility, NEC designed the Versa L320 notebook with two multi-functional device bays, allowing users to easily customize the system configuration to their computing needs. The primary bay, which uses NEC's VersaBay IV technology, accepts a wide range of hot-swappable modular drives, including a CD-ROM drive, a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive or a second 30GB hard drive. The secondary Modular Bay can be fitted with a standard 1.44MB diskette drive or a second 8-cell battery pack. This unique bay combination allows the user to utilize two batteries while maintaining use of the CD-ROM or CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive.

"The Versa L320 is designed for business users who require a high level of mobile performance and flexibility in a notebook computer," said Joe Harris, director of product marketing, NEC Computers Inc. "The Versa L320, like all NEC mobile solutions, offers features that help mobile professionals do their jobs better, faster and with ease."
