The box contains a User’s Manual, IDE and FDD cables, a Driver CD (chipset drivers) and diskette (RAID drivers), and an additional sound riser. Most boards will ship with a riser that will support 6-channel analog sound, but optionally, others will ship with a riser providing 5.1-channel digital output (S/PDIF and TOSlink).
The User’s Manual is clean and detailed, and there are substantially fewer language errors than were present in past Iwill manuals. The persistent language errors are we’ve commented about before, and we’re happy to see Iwill correcting the problem. It certainly does result in a much more polished final product.
Mechanical installation of the board was routine, and did not result in any surprises. The board is not quite entirely jumper-free, so make sure you set the appropriate options beforehand. Software installation did not result in any surprises either. Be certain to install the ALi chipset drivers from the CD, or better still, the latest version from ALi's website, prior to installing any other software/drivers. Video drivers should be installed immediately afterward, followed by DirectX (if necessary), to ensure maximum stability.
