ASUS Launches P4T533 Motherboard With 32-bit RIMM Module Support
  May 29, 2002, 09:00am EDT
Taipei, Taiwan, May 30, 2002 - ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (TSE:2357) today announced the release of the ASUS P4T533 motherboard for socket 478 Intel Pentium 4 processors. The ASUS P4T533 incorporates the advanced Intel® 850E chipset to support 533MHz/400MHz front-side-bus Pentium 4 processors, as well as highest-bandwidth RIMM 4200/3200 32-bit memory module support for the best performance available. This ATX motherboard represents the ideal choice for high-end desktops and workstations.

"RIMM 4200 is the world's fastest PC memory module, delivering 4.2GB/s bandwidth, two times higher performance than any competing memory technology," says Frank Fox, Vice President, Rambus Inc. "Asus is again demonstrating performance leadership by introducing the P4T533 with RIMM 4200."

Supporting the latest socket 478 Pentium 4 processors up to 2.4GHz and beyond, the P4T533 delivers 533MHz MHz bus speeds and the highest performance available with 4.2 GB/s peak bandwidth. As games, entertainment, and applications advance in complexity, the ASUS P4T533 provides the necessary bandwidth for optimal system performance. The ASUS P4T533 supports up to 2GB of RIMM 4200/3200 memory, while offering flexible memory options by enabling the use of single or dual RIMM configurations. The result is lower system costs and easy upgradeability.

"RIMM 4200/3200 offers the best cost/performance memory and we are delighted that ASUS is able to implement it to provide the industry with the first RIMM 4200 system." said Jon Kang, Sr. VP of Samsung Electronics Memory Product Planning team. "Samsung has already developed and started mass production of RIMM4200/3200 from May, 2002."

Exceptional value is provided thanks to abundant onboard options and value added features. 6-channel audio is available with an optional C-Media 6-channel software CODEC and S/PDIF out interface. The ASUS P4T533 also includes innovative features such as POST Reporter™ that speaks when errors occur during bootup, Q-Fan for intelligent and quiet fan speed control, and EZ Flash for instantaneous BIOS updates.

Engineered for optimal performance, the P4T533 includes comprehensive overclocking options to unlock the potential of Pentium 4 processors. DIP switches and ASUS JumperFree™ mode allows users to adjust settings either manually or from the convenience of the BIOS screen.
