  Jan 07, 2003, 10:00am EST

TAIPEI, TAIWAN, Jan. 7, 2003 – Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading supplier of core logic and graphics chipsets, today introduced SiS746FX, its latest AMD core logic chipset. The SiS746FX is the first of its kind to support functions such as 333MHz front-side bus, highly effective DDR400, AGP8X interface, and SiS MuTIOL® 1G technology. It is the only AMD platform chipset equipped with these four top specifications in the current market.

SiS746FX logic chipset integrates top specifications with major improvements in processors, memory, and graphics interface functions. Its 333MHz front-side bus is the latest and most important specification in the AMD K7 CPU series. Its high-speed DDR400 memory controller will speedily become a mainstream product by next year after obtaining JEDEC certification. Furthermore, an AGP8X graphics interface makes the platform a complete and excellent one which not only significantly increases the computational speed of the system, but also provides users with a better operating platform for users.

"The SiS746FX chipset represents SiS’s leading position in AMD platform technological development. In order to enhance our market share in AMD platform market, we hope to further introduce products with pioneering specifications, outstanding performance, and to create a revolutionary, competitive edge for customers." said Michael Chen, Senior Vice President, Integrated Products Division of SiS.

The SiS746FX is paired with the South Bridge SiS963L, which features MuTIOL® 1G technology, USB 2.0/1.1, Dual ATA133/100/66 IDE Channels, 5.1 Channel AC’97 Audio, 10/100Mb Ethernet and Home PNA2.0. The MuTIOL® 1G is an SiS proprietary technology with 1GB/sec transfer speed and bi-directional 16-bit data bus at 533MHz operating speed, allowing a seamless bridge between the North Bridge and South Bridge. Utilizing SiS’s MuTIOL® 1G technology, the SiS746FX and SiS963L combination provides the widest data bandwidth yet to achieve high-transfer-rate requirement.

Silicon Integrated Systems Corp.
