Product Profile : Philips Acoustic Edge

Philips' Acoustic Edge sound card is slated to go head-to-head with Creative Labs' lower-end offerings. For more info, visit Philips' website here: http://www.philips.com
Stability: 9/10

We had no major problems with the card or its drivers. Users of VIA chipsets can expect some quirky behavior, however that's not something we can criticize Philips for.

Quality: 9/10

We have not had sufficient time to rate the card's long-term quality, however short-term performance has been impecable.

Features: 7/10

Both hardware and software features are plentiful. A3D 2.0 compatibility would have been nice.

Documentation: 10/10

The accompanying manuals are excellent. Clear, concise, full of valuable information, and free of spelling and language errors.

Price: 7/10

At $60, the Acoustic Edge is slightly more expensive than Creative's SBLive!. This may prove to be somewhat of a hinderance.

Overall Rating: 7/10

Nothing revolutionary, but a solid card that would easily satisfy most.
