Dear Sir;

I neen help with this problem?

I’m getting these error messages just as the system is shutting down on it’s own, unexpected shutdown.

C:\WINDOWS\LogFiles\Watchdog\020130_2022_01.wdl

szAppName : Drivers.Display szAppVer : 1002514C00013A1002

szModName : ati2dvag.dll szModVer : 6.13.10.6015 Offset : AA1306EA

The display drives for Radeon 8500/Radeon seems to be responsible for

System instability.

This happens once or twice a day as much as 10 times.

Beaufort,

We'd be happy to help if you give us some more details, list your system specifics and we'll get into greater detail. Without that info there isn't much we can do. It would be like you calling a Ford dealer and asking them why your car doesn't start (whereas you own a Chrysler) and they need to fix it over the phone.

Kind regards,

Blue Screen Message (after unchecking: Reboot on Error)

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be cause by the following file: ati2dvag

The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop.

I replaced my 3D card. Before I had a GeForce3 Morpheus 64mb. The problem still happend. Then I got the ATI 8500, again the same problem.

My friends and I think that it could be the motherboard, for his went bad but with the memory aspect on the board. Also this board was under fire for having a different ref. board and a different "Live" board... 2 resistors were changed.

But I would like to know if by chance you would know if this is a motherboard issue or something else...

Thanks,

Arttiss

According to the following article:
http://cweb.msi.com.tw/eforum/?target=article&tid=4175
... it looks like the issue is NOT hardware related, but XP/DX8.1/driver related.
I can confirm this via my own tests... an Athlon1.2 w. Radeon7500 and XP will crash at random stages during any 3D game or benchmark. Nothing I could do would fix it... I tried different driver sets, BIOS options, Write Combining options.. zilch.
When I ran my PC up inder Win2k with DX8.1 and the video drivers... everything worked a treat... 3D games and benchmarks no longer crashed. I believe (as the article says) that this a Microsft/Vendor software/driver issue, NOT a hardware issue. I think we must wait until MS/Vendoe releases a fix.

I have been having the same problem with my All in Wonder 7500 and WinXP. Also I have noticed that this problem is not local to Athlon platforms. I have an Athlon system. But I installed an All in Wonder Radeon for a friend on his P4 system. Even he had the same prob. Also we have motherboards from different vendors with different chipsets of course. For me as well it works fine in Win2k.

Here is a possible cure--find an WIn XP box that is working fine and copy the ati2dvag.dll from C:\windows\system32 to a floppy and then copy it to your system. Warning!! My system gave me no video and I had to do a system repair from the XP CD to get it back but it seems to have fixed the problem.

Getting similar blue screen/XP will now reboot system problem. This has only recently started, system had been running fine from Christmas until last week.

Athlon 900
Windows XP Professional
512Mb Ram
30+80Gb Maxtor HDD
64Mb Radeon 7200 VIVO
Creative Audigy Platinum EX
3Com Etherlink Card
Alcaltel ADSL Modem

(Incidentally the first program that started this bug off was the Empire Earth Expansion: The Art of Conquest, since then its been triggered by everything from the Sims to NeverwinterNights to AIM:/ )

Yup, I have a very similar spec and problem:

Athlon 1.2GHz
512 RAM
All in Wonder Radeon
XP Pro

However, the blue screen is as often caused by non game issues as game ones - it just did it repeatedly with MS Money open. I have the latest driver: wxp-radeon-6-13-10-6166-efg.exe

In the past, driver problems have only been cured by uninstalling all the ATI software, hacking ATI entries from the registry and reloading everything again (ATI advised me to do this). A bit time consuming - may have a go again at the weekend. Would love a more considered fix

I have had the same problems, however i have a couple more symtoms, when i either "send error message", or "dont send", the dialog box pops right back up, i just have to move it to the corner of my desktop because i can't get rid of it, also somtimes the screen has red cross hatching all over it, and a square of the red behind the mouse, also when playing games somtimes shadows would be red, and there was red dots of color on some surfaces rendered as a red spot light on a wall (this symtom went away after the first video card swich, but the other symtoms are still here). Also I brought my palm PC (windows CE 3.0) with me to a friends place, I sync'ed it with her laptop and now her comp is getting the error messages mine has. How ANNOYING! I cant figure it out. I've tried 3 video cards, none of them worked. I finally reformatted and re-installed windows, still hapening. I thought it was a virus, but the reformat would have killed it (i diddnt install any software after re-formatting hard drive, and error messages still popped up) so it seems that it must be hardware, but my friend's computer who i sync'ed my PDA to, only had the problem after MY computer had contact with it.. I'm at a loss for any ideas, if anyone figurs it out(the problem that i think were all having) please post somthing or e-mail me at skyecore@hotmail.com, thanks in advance, and good luck to all of you!

Wow, seems like I'm not the only person having problems with Win XP and an ATI card. I have Win XP Pro, an Athlon XP1900, 256MB, and an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro. Been getting the same blue screen random crashing stuff. I contacted ATI, and the advice they gave me actually compounded my problem severely. Four Win XP reinstalls, three hard drives, and two boxes of Asprin later, Windows was working again, and I managed to install the ATI drivers again. Though the card doesn't crash at random anymore (or at least not nearly as much), I still can't play Deux Ex, and Medal of Honor and The Sims occasionally crash.

I will never buy another ATI card again.

Has anyone found a fix for this problem?

I have tried Windows XP and 2000. Both crash, but it happens differently on each O/S. I have tried the the newly released DirectX 9.0 with Catalyst 3.0 drivers. I checked to see if my powersupply wasnt giving enough juice, but the I get the same problem when I disconnect my second hard drive and CD-ROM.

I noticed that as long as I use the VGA compatible driver that windows XP uses, I dont crash at all. This is obviously not a fix though.

I think I've solved mine -it turned out to be a CPU overheating problem. The thermal seal between the CPU and heat sink had broken and it was overheating. Reseating it with new thermal compound reduced the temp by 10 C and I've had no blue screens since (still find MMC a pig though!)

I have been having a problem with a new system with a Radeon 9000 Pro 128Mb. XP Pro gives a blue screen blaming the ATI2DVAG.DLL. This happened a few times.
I have installed the Plutonium drivers from http://drivers.driverheaven.net/downloads.php?ver=XP81 and SO FAR I have not had the problem return.

This is not just an ATI problem. If you search on "infinite loop XP" in Google you will see how large this problem is. It occurs with ATI and nVidia boards, AMD and Intel CPU's, different chipsets, and different motherboards. It seems to be only with Win2k and WinXP.

VIA Arena has a multiple page discussion of this problem at http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=64

They say it can be anything from a bad video card, to bad drivers, to undersized power supply, ...........

After SP1 XP traps the infinite loop with a watchdog timer that takes you back to your desktop at 640x480x16.

Yeh I have had the same problem. I have a Asus a7v8x board and a ati aiw radeon 7500. I play Medal Of Honor alot and last month I started having problems. It would be in a game and it will just lock up and my sound would start skipping. The when I reboot it tells me that ati2dvag.dll caused it. I tryed new via drivers (all of them) with all kinds of different ATI drivers and even reformatted my whole system , but still locks up. Somebody needs to fix this XP/VIA/ATI problem if thats what it really is.

Found a solution. I had the same blue screen of death and ativdag infinite loop error message after installing ATI AIW 8500DV on a Micron Millenia XP running XP Home. After many hours with ATI technical support, I stumbled over the fix myself. Before that I had reinstalled the latest ATI drivers many times, I upgraded the BIOS, installed the latest ASPI drivers, even got a replacement card from ATI (I was having other symptoms before I got the replacement card - so I think there was a problem with the video card as well).

The fix was to reinstall my DVD decoder software - ravisent Cineplayer 4.0 and their maintenance update (April '02). I first tried runing DVD with Cineplayer, then tried the ATI DVD application (7.7). Both worked flawlessly. My AGP accelerator is (Settings, Advanced, Troubleshooting is set to full throttle - position 6 of 6).

Hope this helps someone.
John

>> Related problem ATI-7500 mobility
watchdog says ati2vdag.dll was caught in an infinite loop (specs below). It does this about 2 to 10 times a day. This is on an Acer 420 travelmate with an ATI 7500 mobility. I've got the latest driver but it does'nt work. ATI, by the way, does not offer a driver for download, but says I have to get it from Acer. The Acer driver doesn't work, and acer support denies that there is a problem. My conclusion: don't buy Acer and don't buy ATI. If anyone knows of a work around or has more info, it's very welcome.
Cheers,
Stefaan Nachtergaele
