My Problem is that everything works fine on the motherboard but in windows the monitor will straight turn off (go to standby mode) and not turn back on. The light goes yellow and wont wakeup (go green) until i reboot my pc. I have tried a different monitor and the same problem happens.

PC SPECS:

Intel Pentium 4 3.0 with HT
P4S8X-X mobo with HT
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 8x agp
Creative SBLIVE Audigy 2
WD 80 x 2 HDD
Sony HMD-A220 CRT Monitor
350 Watts power supply

I have apply all latest patches from asus.com for this board...

PLEASE if anyone can help at all lemme know, i'm very tired of this...I have no idea why this is crashing...

Anyone???

Thanks,

Can you get into Windows in safe mode? Try doing that and removing your video card and monitor from Device Manager, then, boot up into Windows as normal, and when asked for a driver, make sure you have the latest versions in each case (check on the manufacturer’s website for each driver and have them ready).

well i have installed all new drivers for each device i got even installed new drivers by asus for this board...still no result...i called asus tech support thought, they say that i must have 400watts power supply for this board and my pc specs...can that really be the cause of my problems?i have read over net that i must have atleast a 28A @ 3.3v psu..but i donno how to check those A on my psu..can any'1 help me on that ?

Asus PC probe 2 graph on my board are:

+12V: runing not stable..goes from 12.3 ~ 11.7
+5V: stable at 4.99
+3.3V: stable at 3.29
Vcore: stable at 1.58

could that matter in the kinda problem i got ?

thank you,

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem! and it's driving my mad!
I am running a P4S8X-X mobo with P4 3.06Ghz HT (533FSB) CPU, 1GB (2 x 512MB) PC2700 (333Mhz) DDR RAM, On board 5.1 sound, Geforce 4 Ti4200 (8x AGP), SIIG-AP40 SCSI Pro PCI card, Quantum Atlas 10K 9.1GB HD, Quantum Atlas 10K 18.6 GB HD, Maxtor 20GB HD, Seagate ST320413A 20GB HD, Firewire card, Mitsumi DVD-R recordable drive. WinXP SP1. Everytime, I try to do something high end like using Cyberlink PowerDriector to manipulate home video, the screen will invariably go blank and not return until I have rebooted. (I have a 300W PSU)
HELP!!!

hi there,

yeah same problem here, well the cause of the problem is that the 300 watts psu aint enough for high end specs we got...u need to get atleast a 400watts but i would say more if better to be sure..and all the problems will be gone..just if u wanna try to make sure its that, unplug things like dvd-r, usb stuff, extra hdd, and turn off HT, u'll see that the pc will consume less watts and the monitor wont go off like before...

I now have a 500Watt PSU, and guess what... the same problem. It might be worth looking at topic 6545 on this board, this is some more people with very similar problems.

I am convinced this is something to do with the AGP/Memory architecture of this mobo. It runs perfectly until I need to do some heavy work with Graphics, and then the monitor swiches off. The system appears to be live, but no monitor, which kinda makes it hard to see whats happening :-(

I really wish I had never bought this mobo, it has been one problem after another.

hi,

thts not good, well one more thing i can tell you about with this mobo is that it doesnt like cheap generic rams...what ram brand u got? is it a branded one?if not that can be the cause also and just a temp solution to agp prob is that go into "display properties" thn "settings" thn "advance" thn "troubleshoot" slide back the hardware accelator bar back 2 spots back towards "none". if u got a generic ram try 2 get a good ram, may be borrow from a friend and test it out! hope this helps!

the power supply issue is bs..lol

i have this board and it works fine with a 350w and a 300w power supply and a p4 2.4 533 @ 166FSb maxed out with 2 120g HD and DVD burner/cdrom

the issue with a power supply is the output from the 3.3v +5v output, not the 300, 400, 500watts, that is all miss leading.

what u want is a power supply that put sout a min of 180w on the 3.3+5v channel. as 180 is the suggested minimum for a p4 chip.

^^^

usually on the sticker on the side of the power supply should say, if not a search on the we can sometimes find u that info.

i have seen some 300w power supplies beat out the 500w brands - usually from lesser known companies.

i have the p4s8x-x board and i got in it

a p4 2.4 (400mhz)@ 3.1ghz
2 x 120g WD
1 DVD burner / cd-rw drive
3 Case Fans
ti4299 128mb overclocked

and i am using a 300w power supply. :) and using latest bios version. 1003.

the power supply u have appears to be able to output a MAX of 285watts on the 3.3 and +5 - if so, then u have a VERY VERY good power supply.

uponing looking at mine for the above system - it outputs a max of 140w - so i think the tale of neededing 180w min for a p4 maybe just a myth.

Hi, I have the same mobo ASUS P4S8X-X, and I am having some problems too.

My configuration is

ASUS P4S8X-X
P4 2.4GHZ FSB 533
512 1 dimm, Kingstom
ATI RADEON 7200 SDRAM 32MB PCI
80 GB WD 7200 RPM ATA 100
SONY 8x4x32 CD-RW
Soundblaster x-gamer 5.1

I had the problem with the reboot, it just do it when it please to do it, but it was solve when I install the latest catalyst from ATI (3.7).

The problem I am worry about is when I turn it on, it doesn´t start at first, it didnt´t flash the mouse or the keyboard, only when I reset it it flash then the mouse and the keyboard and start to loading.

I haven´t actually update the bios, I had the file(1003 version) but I prefer to ask you first if anyone has the same problem or if something might be wrong with the ps/2 port or another problem.

Thank you already

Oscar

This motherboiard is garbage..lol

esecially for overclocking which i do intesnly!

this board has nothing good about it for someone like me.

it ahs agp8x / usb 2. - so may for some standard everyday user - but even then i would say buy something else.
