Sander,

I didn't think the Athlon FX was SMP capable. Are you sure that it is? I've been pretty uninterested in the K8 line (partly because I didn't believe AMD would EVER deliver it) since it didn't seem to be catering to the home workstation crowd. It looks like a good gamer chip, but I'm not intersted in that... and I was under the impression that the FX variant was just another uniproc version with DC-DDR.

Cheers, and thanks for the update!

Well, it would figure that a 64-bit processor would out-perform a simmilar 32-bit one, but I didn't figure by such a significant margin. The only downside is that it requires Registered DDR, which is going to be a bit expensive for me :( I will just have to wait for a while for a price-drop. I knew AMD would eventually come out with somthing that was stable, AND performes awesome, just hope they keep this up :)

I'm having a Opteron 142, and using Windows XP 64-Bit Edition build 1039 with an Ati R9700... what exact problems do you see...

There are native drivers in this build, they are based on Catalyst 3.5 (6360) but are missing OpenGL support

Juan, my point exactly, you at least need build 1033. And to be able to do any evaluation of 3D performance I need some real drivers, not native support, that simply won't be fair.

Kind regards,

I''ve contacted developer relations of ATI, but there is no beta program at the moment for 64-bit drivers for their hardware...

Yeah, I also was in touch with ATI, they have drivers but are bound by an NDA with AMD. When the Athlon 64 launches they will put the 64bit drivers up for download on their website. All that I have right now are pretty old Nvidia 64bit drivers that keep on crashing 3Dmark2003. And Nvidia gave me the same excuse as ATI, so I'm not getting anywhere with them either.

ati2mtag.sys R1xx/R2xx/R3xx 2D
ati3d1ag.dll R1xx 3D
ati3d2ag.dll R2xx 3D
ati3duag.dll R3xx 3D

You obviously have a newer beta than I do, I'm using 1033, and you mentioned you're using 1039. That could explain some of the differences, I don't have these drivers in my build.

Is deze beta verkrijgbaar via Microsoft? Zo ja, dan bel ik morgen gelijk even met de vestiging in Hoofddorp, misschien dat ik daarmee wel verder kom. Bedankt voor de tip in ieder geval!

Hello all

I have the AMD Athlon 64 3200 and need the 64-bit AGP controller driver and the ATI AIW 9700 Pro drivers. I alos need the 64-bit sound drivers. This is more of a PITA then I think its worth, but im not going to quit.

thanks all

I heard about this 939 Version of the 64 FX, it will probably be released this year, but it wont replace the 940 processors and motherboards, the 939 can use non ECC ram in it fine, the 940 needs ECC ram.

I am running a Athlon 64 bit dule core processor on a Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard running on Windows Xp SP1, yes you are correct there is'nt much you can do other than start over if your running a bog standard Xp OS. all you'll get is a crash a definate upgrade to Xp with SP1 integrated will do nicely or if you can afford it get yer mits on a new Xp 64bit or Crystal. As for this little cookie it goes like the wind ...
