Hey all.

I'm using WinXP, BT Broadband, AVG for Windows program version 6.0.520.

AVGWin keeps popping up with the alert message:

Found:

Trojan Horse Dialer

c:\system volume information\_restore{6809E832-7BB4-4526-B173-ECFE3B65F6FD}\RP110\A0030786.EXE

Please run AVG for windows.

I'm using the most up to date virus database, and i've run the AVG scan twice, to no avail. I'm quite worried about the fact that it's a dialer, as people i know have had bad experiences with them before.

How do i go about removing it?

Post-Script: I've also recently installed Kazaa Lite. These Trojans came up shortly after installing K-Lite. Any Ideas?

turn off system restore after scanning and getting rid of the virus and reboot and then turm system restore back on again, you will get lots of viruses and trojans from files you d/l from kazaa, you just have to be careful what you accept and click on.

I think i mentioned that AVG won't clean it.

Could you give me those instructions again in a more easy-to-understand form?

I'm almost a total newbie when it comes to viruses, trojans and suchlike.

I recommend that you download and use ad-aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. Both are free.

But doing that will take out Kazaa Lite. As that program is a known 'spyware' program.
And if you disable that portion, it might not run at all.

I just got a trojan dialer virus from a website linked from an email, which was supposed to be an mp3 site called hitsmuzik . com. Luckily I'd installed the free avg 6.0 antivirus two days ago, and luckily it seems to have got rid of it. I'm just running avg again to make sure though. Trouble is, I've only borrowed this XP pc while my old windows 98 is getting a new hard drive fitted.

I use ME and AVG for my virus software. Recently I have had notification of two viruses, I-Worm Swen and today Trojan Horse Dialer. The problem is that when I try to move them to the Virus vault AVG tells me it cannot move them and the I-WORM is identified every morning when AVG runs. On investigation I discover they are sitting in C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\ with a string of numbers and CPY extension. I cannot delete these files but they do not seem to be causing any problems. Has anyone seen this type of situation before and/or offer advice?

right click on your bottom taskbar and choose task manager and look at the processes and highlite the exe`s that you know are the culprits and click on end process, then run your virus scanner, after that is done then go to control panel/system/system restore and turn off system restore, reboot and do another virus scan and if clean turn back on system restore.

Hi, I have a virus on my system.. I don't really know much of what to do with them but I tried a few of the steps above to no avail.
It's called Trojan horse Dropper Swicer.A and its attached to EAPRSSJC.EXE. I'm running WinXP and I have AVG 6.0 and it tells me i cant delete the file so i should move it to the vault but then it says i cant get rid of it.
Please help, let me know if there's any other info you might need.

It belongs to a bug called Winpup32. Pest patrol says their program removes it. If you want to try yourself here's how, but it looks awfully time consuming.

Make sure your AVG has the latest 12/26/03 update. It isn't finding the virus when you run the check probably because it has already moved the virus into the vault. Open AVG and then "Programs" on the tool bar. Then open the "Virus Vault" and either remove the virus from the program or if it's not healable then you will have to delete the program and reinstall it. Also make sure you delete all your system restore files. Sometimes the viruses hide in there. You can try running these other online scans as well.
