The list is only based on ATI and NVIDIA GPUs. Not sure if a R9600XT is better than a FX5900 Ultra though.

I reckon the FX9500 Ultra is faster than the 9600XT - all the benchmarks put it close to the 9800 Pro, and it's unlikely the 9600XT will be that close.

The R9600XT would be between FX5900Ultra and FX5900. Not sure if the 9600XT is better than 9700 Pro.

I can't wait for the Athlon 64 FX prices come down. One of those will be put in my next machine.

I'll have to agree whole-heartedly with where you put the Ti4600. One of the best cards I've ever owned, and it can still keep up with today's fancy DX 9 cards. Mine is a Gainward brand, BTW. Gotta love red silicon :)

The list is based on the http://www.tomshardware.com VGA benchmarks and from other ppl expereinces. The new 9800XT and 9600XT is just my opinion. Feel free to criticise the accuracy of the Hall of Fame list !!!

Now we can assume the rip-off is FX5200. Best budget is Ti4200. Best performer is 9800XT. Best mid-range is 9600 etc.....

Seems a lot of ppl prefer ATI Radeon series especially the 9800Pro over the FX5900 Ultra. And since FX5200 perform so poorly, many ppl assume all the FX series perform just as poor. So thats why ATI is the way to go.

Actually the MX440 even performs better than FX5200 in DX8+

As mentioned before, the list is only based on ATI and NVIDIA cards. The list is not 100% accurate though and the FX5200 is about the same level as the MX440 or even less. Some ppl say that the FX5200 is the same level as a gf2 Ti series.

So they’re saying that the standard FX5200 (i.e. non-Ultra version) is actually *WORSE* than my geriatric GF3Ti200? :D Actually, looking at it, the GF3 was a smart investment for anyone who got one just before the GF4 came out (look at all the 4MXs listed below it)

Also, what do you suppose they mean when they list the GF3Ti200, the GF3Ti500 and then, in between, simply GF3?

And finally, why is there no mention of the Radeon 9200? Sapphire do an 8x 9200 with 256Mb of DDR on board, and that’s a fair chunk of power for such a reasonably priced card (about 70GPB = 112USD), so surely, even though nobody’s going to say it’s the greatest card on the market at the moment, it’ll hold its own against the other cards listed there.

The Ti4600 is better than the Ti4800. Dun get confused at the bigger the number, the better the card eg. the Radeon 8500 is better than the 9000.
