The 9800XT is new n it isn't in stores yet. But tests have shown that the 9800XT is better than the 9800Pro

Not too sure about the ATI Radeon 7000. It would be below the 7500 I think.

From the Futuremark ORB and discussion board, it seems the FX5600 actually has lower 3DMark scores than the Ti4200. So from my opinion the Ti4200 is better than the FX5600. Do anyone agree?

I was wondering, does the PCI version of the FX5200 outperform the AGP version, because I have the PCI version and it doesn't seem as bad as your list says it is.

>> Re: Hall of Fame of GPUs
Sorry to say the FX5200 is lame duck card. Dunno if the PCI version of FX5200 is better than the AGP version. But sure to say that the FX5200 is equivalent to a gf4 MX420 or even less. Even the FX5600 is a lame duck since its just equivalent to a Ti4200 with DX9 support. The Ultra versions of the FX5200/5600 is a different story. So if u r after a gf FX series, get the Ultra ones.

Alright...to those of you who don't do the proper research, please allow me to clarify!

I've read all of the reviews from hardware analysis, tomshardware, gamespot, gamespy, and the like.Yea...they SHOW it is slow. But they don't really give you the impact of the new "LAME DUCK" card...as someone called it.

I previosly owned an MSI Geforce4 TI 4800 VIVO 128mb card. The card was pretty fast and impressive compared to my roomates 64mb MX 440. Well I traded the card and purchased an Asylum FX5200 128mb for about $100.

Know what? The FX5200 is a bit slower, yes; but LOOKED BETTER. Games I compared were:
PlanetSide
Halo
War Craft III - Reign of Chaos
Duke Nukem 3d - Manhatten Project
Rainbow 6 - Ghost Recon
Need for Speed - Porsche Unleashed

Let me tell you...the cinematic effects on HALO are simply AMAZING. Honestly, I would not trade back to the TI card, even though I may have sacraficed some framerates. I know I'm going to upset a handful of people, but I don't care because I HAVE SEEN THE DIFFERENCE.

If you have the chance to compare eye candy and cinematic effects, please do so. The water ripples, splashes, and falls in NFS and War craft are amazing in the FX compared to the TI.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm still saving for that Radeon 9800 All in wonder. I can't wait to see what that baby has in store for me.

BTW, Halo rocks.

Just to clear things up the Ti 4800 is a Ti 4600 with AGP 8x and a Ti 4800se is a Ti 4400 with AGP 8x. Also in my opinion and in the benchmarks (including half-life 2) the 9600 pro and the 9500 pro are considerably better than the Ti 4600 (especially at newer Direct X9.0 games)and they are also better than an FX 5600 ultra.

I'm kind of p**sed at nVidia, I wish they would come out with something that is the "best" for once. They are always playing catch up. I'm pretty loyal, but if they don't fix it, then I may have to switch to ATI. They do have better drivers though. ATI is kind of funky with that.

So you really think the Ti4600 is better then the FX5600 Ultra at 400/800?

I'll go for ATI cause it has better value for money. At the moment most ppl go for the 9800Proinstead of the FX5900Ultra.

Most ppl nowdays either have a NVIDIA or a ATI and nearly no one have a MATROX anyway. Based on ppl ORBs, the Ti4200 is actually a great deal where u can get more than 20K in 3DMark2001SE with overclocking, tweaking etc. Sorry for ppl who own FX5200/5600 since its just for movies/animation and not good enough for games. NVIDIA just isn't up to standard cause ATI already has the 9800Pro/XT ahead of the FX5900Ultra. But I still support NVIDIA since I own a Ti4200 and quite happy with it. Matbe NVIDIA will beat ATI later. Who knows.
