which will last longer - fx5200, or R9200?

What is the average lifespan of a GeForce fx5200? I'm a quasi hardcore gamer putting in about 6 hours a day into gaming. What about the Radeaon 9200? How long does it last?

Neither of them are going to be able to handle games well after probably 2004.

If you are a "quasi hardcore" gamer, then I'd recommend a better card, like the 9600 Pro, or at least a Geforce 4 Ti.

6 hours a day is only quasi-hardcore gamers?!?!? :-O

I wish I had 6 hours a day free. I only play on average 1 hour a day. But in that 1 hour I want to see some decent graphics and I don't wanna spend precious time fighting my graphics card more than the game. So I have a 9600 Pro, definitely well worth it even if I don't play with it as much as others do.

I'm in the same ballpark as you. I'll spend about 4-6 hours maybe 2 days a week. or 2 hours 4 days a week.

Anyway, I have a hell of a system with a 128mb FX 5200 from Asylum. I previously had a MSI GeForce4 TI4800 VIVO with 128mb memory. It's a fast card, but the FX5200 looks better. The cinema stuff that Nvidia talks about is very nice, especially in Halo. The only thing is that it is not a very fast card. I would wait and save the money for the FX5900 or the new ATI 9800.

Heck if you want, I'll sell or trade you my FX5200. I just beat Halo with it, and am ready for my ATI 9800 All in wonder! Ya babe!
