I heard about this taxation policy on ports! & when i bought my camcorder 6 months ago i was not informed of these restrictions by the retailer.
i read the article from Sassen (thankyou), this is all good information, however the problem that i have is that my camera doesn't have a LANc port, however i do have -
- s-video out - a/v-out - dv out (firewire) - USB (no direction stated) -
Maybe the USB port is usable for firmware updates, i have no real idea though!

i wish to be able to record 'audio-in' through an external mic as the built in mics pick up too much head & tape motor noise!
also i would like to be able to return edited film from my computer to the camera so 'dv-in' would be excellent.
oh' i am a Apple-mac user aswell, but if this is a problem i'm sure i can use a friends PC.

if anyone can help me or point me in the right direction i will be so very grateful

thanx,

sash
