The codes mentioned in the article are also
valid for PC6E. I have tested DV-in, zebra effect and test pattern and it works fine.

I am looking to use this article to enable the DV in on my Sony PC3E.
I am sourcing the bits but you do not specify any type of Rf coax cable.
Can you please advise me on that. Thanks.

Hi All !

I have also tried the other features for the DCR-PC6E (PAL).

* D 2C 12->16 - ESP/ELP rec mode, Extra Short/Long Play

I have got these ones in my camera menu together with SP & LP
modes (menu TAPE SET->REC MODE), but when I tried to record
in these new modes the "CLEANING CASSETTE" yellow message
appeared on the LCD display. In the manual, "Maintenance
information and precaution" chapter, it is written that
"the video head may be dirty" (page 235 of the English manual) :-)
Old options, LP/SP, worked(s) fine. In the play mode it was
black screen, in the fast forward mode something like on the
pictures [a] and [b] from the manual.

It seems this option does not work for the PC6E model. Because
of that I have updated the memory to the previous h'12 value.

* D 23 0B->OF - MANUAL MIC (manual mic-gain)
I have found this setting on other www pages. In this Article
at the Hardware Analysis I see different values
(D 1E 64->E5), like for the TEST IMAGE (color bar) feature.

I have changed only one (D 23 0B->OF). It also appeared in the menu
of the camcorder PC6E with options AUTO & MANUAL. I was able to change
between AUTO and MANUAL, set manual values by horizontal bar.
Again, it does not work with the DCR-PC6E when I record on the tape
with internal and external microphone. In player mode there is no voice,
there is silence. The Voice is only recorded when I set the MANUAL MIC
to the AUTO mode. Maybe the PC6E miss some hardware. I have changed
memory back to the original value. Before updated, the MANUAL MIC
was set to the AUTO value.

Maybe both updates are needed, D 23 0B->OF & D 23 0B->OF ...
I have tried only the first one.

Could you (ALL) tell me about your experience with those features
for the PC5E ?

Does anyone tried to switch on other PC6E's features,
which work well there (apart of ZEBRA, COLOR BAR,

Finally, I have switched on known, well working, features from
Jarek's e-mail.

Does anyone knows how to activate features temporary to see how
they works (I mean only in RAM, after power down we get back
the original values) ?

I have found somewhere (see below) example of the temporary activation
for another SONY Digital Camcorders (not for DCR-PC4E/5E/6E family).
Would it work for the DCR-PC4E/5E/6E, do you have any experience
in this area ?

example: Temporary ZEBRA activation

Page | Address | Original Data | Modified Data | Action
0 01 00 01 Press STORE. Remove write
D 1B 40 60 Don't press on STORE !!!
Enables ZEBRA.
0 01 01 00 Press STORE. Install write

It would be great to see the memory dumps from the DCR-PC9E
& DCR-PC8E. Have you seen them somewhere ?

Thank you in advance for any useful & interesting replays.
