FX 5950 is just OC'd FX5900, 9800XT is just OC'd 9800PRO...
So what? Yall OC' everything anyways, so isnt it great theyre already OC'd.. :) buahaaaha
King is:
The machine with superior parts, all parts mem, hd, cpu etc..
Just take card you like!
If u got FX5950 wit XP2000+, 128mb mem :)
It WILL lose to 9800XT wit AMD-64-3200+, 512mb mem... this is backwards compatible, dont say anything @ my typing errors...

I believe in firepower..

Honestly, you people argue about silly things, If a game is playable, runs decently, and is enjoyable that is what counts. so what that this card has 6 more FPS than another model, I kept my Ge Force 2 GTS for such a long time because it ran all my games and applications, I think some of you are just posting for bragging rights.

good point, I mean with netspeed archetecture being incorperated into the games you are limited to the fps that your bandwidth will allow. Try running ut2k3 framerate check while online and you likely be around 91fps with a great connection...then go single player and the sky is the limit. I dont play any single player games and when Im online I run detail settings at their lowest for compitition....with that in mind I noticed no change from 9700pro to 9700pro way overclocked to 9800pro256 way overclocked to a stock 9800pro all in wonder.
Of course its a totally different story in single player mode with huge differences in fps and then varying levels of pixel shader technology.

funny thing is i run UT2k3 at all stock settings excluding Resolution, I mean i dont have to tweak anything, i mean i up the resolution to max supported for this monitor and it runs smooth as glass.

well ok i got p**sed trying to decide so i went and bought both....yes i know im insane i bought an eye bomb 9800xt (hl2 yay) and a leadtek 5950 ultra (big big colling fan but less than 500 us i think dunno the exchange rate) and im gonna go do some real benchmarking and get scores...sofar i can say that 5950 is more value for money and more raw power but the 9800 xt handles AA and AF better but crashed a few times sofar (not kidding).....

Ive snapped:
An xbox360 and a 12" iBook....
And a kawasaki er-6n to mod instead

Well im pretty p**sed now..after trading in my 5950 at the shop for the 9800xt to test i can say i am very disappointed, the radeon card is much more unsable, the fps changes quite alot and the temperature is at least 10-20 degrees hotter than the 5950. If youre gonna get a 9800xt? make sure u know how to use tweakers and buy a beter cooling solution for it...otherwise im unhappy to say that the 5950 ultra is definitely the king....(unless youre THAT desperate for a HL2 voucher....sorry but i was)

My dissapointment may be through my own stupidity, but i guess i got to live with that.

I have always been a firm supporter of nVidia, since their first release - Geforce 256 which will in my eyes always remain a great card.......from its time!

With the release of the 8500 and 9000 from Ati, I changes over to Ati. Now my main gripe with Ati is that their drivers suck.

Recently I went back to nvidia with the purchase of a Club 3D FX 5900 XT. The reason being that the FarCry demo let me know just how old my GPU was. Well the new nVidia card does play the demo.....and very nicely but I'm still not too sure that it was the right choice, atleast for my money I am not going to buy an Ati card as their closest contender is the 9600 XT which is eclipsed by the 5900 XT.

Now I realise that i am not talking about the same cards, but I just dont think you can really argue too much in terms of the cards, its more an issue of the drivers. Ati are ruling at the top for now but I think that when nvidia get their act together with their current driver problems, that its going to be a much closer race. Lets face it........whats a couple of hundred frames????

Feel free to comment on my opinion.......but atleast make it an open minded comment and consider all aspects of both nvidias/atis cards, dont be blinded by someone elses opinion you read somewhere!

Cheers
