I replaced my asus 9800xt with a ati a x850xtpe vpu and the games the 9800xt had trouble with are still a little unstable with the new card. I just think some of these games (like value games) tend to be a little unstable. also the older games were built around an older version of directx, than a lot of us are using. All I know for sure is the 9800xt played some video intensive games very well and some not so well, and the same is true of the 850xtpe.

Thanks for all responses to my questions and comments on page 21 and 22.
My 9800 XT card works perfectly now.

I have now moved up in spec and made myself this £1100 Monster (On the outskirts of what I could afford but I did it over 8 months thats why the cards are out of date with rest of the system, I got those first, last year). But it's still awesome! I had a few teething problems at first but I've now got over them. Any questions or comments welcome. Here's my new spec:

Pure Crossfire Advantage PC-A9RD580Adv
AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual Core 4200+
Corsair 2Gb TwinX XMS 3200
ATI Radeon X850 Crossfire Edition (Master)
ATI PowerColor X850 XT Crossfire Slave
Incased in a ASUS VENTO 3600 (awesome gaming tower keeps system and CPU temp down to 23~25°

I don't know if this post should go into another forum or not the first bit is relevant to this thread, I'm sure someone will tell me if it's wrong.

Hi, I was having alot of on/off problems with my 9800XT and it seems, for now, that the problem was cause because I told spybot to block one of it's processes at startup. I thought I was having spy/adware problems and blocked everything i didn't recognize or thought suspicious. The thing was the av2exx or something similar. I forgotten. I also updated my drivers to 8.411.0.0 so I'll get back on here in a week or so if all is still good. Ta. ;)
