try a couple of things
the outlet that the computer is plugged into make sure that it works and that maybe the light switch isn't off
also check the back of the computer and see if the plug is still in there
another is inside the computer make sure that the atx plug from the power supply is plugged into the motherbaord.
Some power supplies also have a switch on the rear of the power supply. Make sure that one is on as well if you have it. Also there may be a switch for changing the voltage from U.S. to European voltages. If it got moved right inbetween the two, that might prevent the PSU from getting juice as well.
I've built a computer 3 months ago, and was working perfectly, i was very proud cose it's my first one... Today i was listening to music and when quiting the music program and launching a game the computer went dead, can someone please help me.....
It was a bit hot today, do you think the cpu is gone?? or the power supply???
How to check the power supply or the CPU, or the CPU fan???
hey, just a thought, better late than never...I just finished working on an e-tower. It had the same symptoms your describing. After running a few tests on it, I concluded it was hard drive failure. I replaced the hard drive and it works fine now. Originaly it would not boot up, no power what so ever. I then tried the hard drive in another machine and the same thing.
I have a problem with it too. After turning my computer off, and then trying to turn it back on in the morning, it wont budge, and i have to end up flashing my bios everytime i want it to work. Any ideas?
i'm having the same problem, my pc was working fine just yesterday and i was playing games all day on it, and today i moved it to another room, tried plugging everything in, and it wouldn't turn on at all, it was as if i was trying to switch on a computer that wasn't plugged in. i'm using an Ultra Xconnect 500w PSU, and i bought a new one, exactly the same, today and swapped them out and i'm still having the same problem! hope someone can help!
you said you moved it into another room? try reseating all the cards, chips... may have loosened in the move. Also, have you checked the outlet? another thing that tends to happen with me, when i move the computer i end up flipping the switch on the power supply... yours may not have a switch, but its worth taking a look at. Does anything happen at all? any fans spin? anything?

the switch is set to on, and as far as i can see, everything is plugged in properly. i even checked the power switch itself, and it's all connected. i'm going to go pick up a power supply tester from compusa, and i'll post the results as soon as i test my PSU's.
I am having similar problems. I have a older system, everything is about 4 years old. I built it . Playing online Monday night, everything was fine. Come the next morning, went to turn it on, dead system. No power whatsoever, not even a beep. I unhook everything and take it to another room, and plug it in. It starts up. Take it back to my computer room, plug it right back into the original socket, it starts up. Shut it down, hook back up the modem, monitor, etc.. and start it up, dead system again. Go back to the other room, plug it in, dead system again. I go back to the computer room, plug it in and it starts up, so this time I plug everything back in while its on, but have to shut it down and and start it again to get the cable modem to be insync with the internet. Suprisingly, it starts up with everything hooked up and in the original socket. I am now going nuts, it either works or dont work. Is it my power supply?
I Have similar problems.
it's been 3 days i'm checking everything..
I thought it was the power supply because in the back it has a green LED that when the computer is plugged, the light turns on..
i notice that since then, the LED light flashes instead of turning on completely.
I checked the power supplly with another computer and it works perfect..
the LED does turn on completely with the other PC..
I FINALLY check all the parts...
RAM, DRIVES, ETC with another computer. (everything works well.)
today i'm gonna check the Hard Drive.. and post what happenned.
if the HD its working!!!. then it has to be the MOTHERBOARD (nForce2)
P/D: i also try plugin the power supply by itself, ( the LED does turn on copletely)
Then i plug the cable of the power supply to the motherboard...(the LED light FLASHES)
if i get something else i'll post it !!. and if anybody can help me. PLEASE
sounds like you have a short curcuit there. Basically the motherboard hitting against metal somewhere and grounding it out. Most likely spot is where the post are. Usually one post that doesnt match up with a hole.
Do a bench test. Take motherboard out and put it on wood or foam and with just the cpu and heatsink/fan, memory and video card with monitor plugged in, plug in the power supply and jump the power on using a srewdriver across the 2 pins you would hook your power switch to. If it starts up here and not in your case you have a short somewhere between the case and motherboard.

i'm having the same problems... i was using my pc last night and switched it off for the night and this morning it wouldn't turn on. i have tryed all the segestions above but it isnt budging. its all new parts only a couple of weeks old. wot could be the problem?
please help - today i was using my sister's computer, which has recently had a cpu upgrade...i was playing the sims on her computer most of the day and had gotten tired of playing so i minimized sims 2 and came back after 1 hour or so and maximized the sims 2 and when i did that the computer froze for about 5 seconds and then turned off and i tried turning it back on but i didn't work, some lights flashed but then went out, i looked inside the computer and saw the mobo light on...but that was it, days prior to this the computer has been experiencing problems and has been restarting randomly and without warning and would just reboot again...but this time the computer just turned off instead of rebooting. I have no idea what the problem could be but my sis always leaves her computer on, before changing the cpu the computer had no problems with being left on all the time but since the installation of the new cpu it has been having alot of rebooting problems. The mobo light just stays on after trying to turn the computer back on, the only way to turn the light off is to unplug the powercord and plug it back in...i dont know if i should just leave the power cord out for a while or the turn the computer on (mobo light on) and leave it for a while...i have read other forums that have said this works...i would just like to know if this could be a serious hardware problem...during all of this i haven't smelled anything burning, so im hoping this means nothing has been fried.
Well basicly the same problem my mobo light is on i switched my PSu checked to see if anything was burnt out its a custom computer.
