vinyl97.sys is related to your sound drivers.
make sure you have latests directX and update your sound drivers for your soud card.

if all else fails, check games website for similar probs/posts and check for game updates.

and find out what that 86 Celcius temp is.
thats real warm whatever it is.

Also, check this
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

left hand side, twords bottom you see 9C error. click that and read.

It appears no one has posted anything to this thread a while, so hopefully someone will have more suggestions. I just went through and read the last 2 years, 11 pages worth of different solutions to this issue and not a single one has helped me, so I thought I would post my story so far...

I built this system 11/04, its a 3.0gig Intel, 300W PS, nvidia apollo card, and 1 gig ram, 1 stick & XP Pro SP2. I tried running that speedfan program & everything is between 35-45, so that should be ok, I have had 2 different motherboards, same issue, I have tried running my system at barebones, OS only and it reboots, installed service pack 2, still reboots, just tried putting the ram into another slot, still reboots. I have unplugged peripherals one by one, still reboots, only thing I havent done is change out video cards, but from reading previous posts, that didnt work either. I did have a wrong cable plugged into my hdd, (a 40 pin cable), but fixed that & it still reboots. I have been dealing with this for almost 6 months now trying various hardware & software troubleshooting. Any suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks!!

>> Re: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini111303-01.dmp ERROR why?
it could also be your PSU its 300W that should be enough but if u have a higher one or a spare one prob borow friends try it if it helps it could be the problem i'm not to sure

the only thing that is left is to set your computer not to restart
MY computer > properties > advance

in the advance tab the last option where it says startup and recovery click "settings"

then untick mark where it says autometic restart

when u do that insted of restarting it will give you the blue screen saying the error or it just might not ever happen :p when it gives u the lbue screen it iwll also give u the error mine said physical memmory dump and cause of that i changed my memory and i installed sp2 and everythig is fine been 8 months.

give ita shot

ok, as axtel said, I agree.
Your power supply is a bit weak. However, running your sustem on barebones should not demand that much from the PS. Although, if one of the rails on the PS is out of spec, this could be causing all of this.

And as he suggested, when the blue screeen appears, write down the error codes.
those are your first clue into the fix.

Also, check the compatibility reports from your motherboards make sure that your CPU does pass.

Just to add to the ever growing list of resolutions to this error... for me it turned out to be bad memry, which is a bummer because 1 gig chips arent the cheapest things. Anyhow, thanks guys for your suggestions. This website turned out to be a good resource & I am sure I will refer to it again.

Any help?

squirrel daddy...

just wondering if there's a way that u could personally analyze these *.dmp files and to really pin point the culprit that causethis type of problem?

^_^

>> Re: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini111303-01.dmp ERROR why?
not really sure what your asking, but ill say this(some of which has been said earlier)................

Most often it is due to driver/hardware conflicts. if it was software, the software would just not work.
to cut rite to the culprit, the dmp files contain the stop error codes. Or simply write down the error code when the blue screen pops up.
these can be referenced at http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
the microsoft MSDN bug check codes have been moved, I hate it when they do that.
after 4 or 5 Blue screens, a commom error will be reoccuring, thats your best start.
also, goto the event viewer and there will be info there from save dump entry and around there at the same time.
http://www.eventid.net/
this website is a good place to get info on the event ID's and such.
this is a good starting point, with this info you can pretty much home in on what you believe is causing the problem.
this article is suppose to tell you exactly what the faulting problem is
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314084/EN-US/
however I have not been able to interpret it correctly. My dmp files do not look like the one in the article, perhaps full dump versus partial dump settings I have.
However I have not needed to resort to this, the first 2 methods have fixed my ills.
from my exp, its been hardware/drivers everytime.
updating my video drivers fixed one PC.
incompatible CPU was another ones problem. fixed with new mobo.
bad ram was another pc's issue.

is that what your after?
