If your getting the same error message as the rest of them it is your memory. I know this, maybe your error message was different, I dont gamble with me testies lightly. I assure you the minidump message is down to the ram.

Same thing that happened to me. Windows will randomly restart (if you have 2 harddrives) and game applications or applications that use alot of memeory will crash after a few mins/randonly and windows will restart right after.

Hi,

I already posted some stuff, but i'm posting now to clarify some things.
1st it is normal that this error just happens with one single game?!

2nd, I already tried to replace my old RAM (from my old computer, 256+256, where this game (steam related games) worked) with my actual RAM (512+512) and the problem still presists, so I think my problem is not related with the game. :S

PS. Btw, i tried to use only 1 socked or another in my motherboard, to check if the problem was from the sockets but nothing... the error showed up again...

Someone can answer to this? ty :)

hey guys,

i've already replaced my ram stick with a brand new 256MB stick... at least for about a week it didn't gave me these error messages... but now it randomly reboots after some period of time while playing the same game.

any insights? it will be very helpful

do you think it's my mobo that has the defective slots?

I can assure that the problem may be not related with the RAM or PSU...

I had the same problem, like I said in my early posts, and i tried to change my RAM and PSU, but the problem was still there :S

I had bought a new graphics card (ATI x800gto) in the 5th december. A month later and the problem is not here anymore. :P
I'm not here to say that NEO or others are wrong, but only to say that this error isn't ALWAYS related to RAM or PSU, it can be related with other things ;D

PS: Altought you were unable to help me, i want to say thanks to all that replied to my posts and I hope that I can help others with the same problem.

yup I think its another problem which am thinking is more serious. I just installed a new RAM chip and what do you know... crash. well windows hasn't restarted but the game I was playing crashed Randomly like before. So unless they resent me another defective chip something else is wrong. One thing I nocied is that both chips are the same brand/model but the CAS latency..ect is different. For one its 2.5,3,3,7 for the other its 2.5, 4, 4, 8.

Hey guys.
Yea i have the same problem, but im very certain its because of Limewire. The only time it seems to happen to me is when im downloading files on Limewire.
PC specs:
AMD FX 57
1 gig DDR kingston ram
80 gig maxtor
A8N-SLi mother board
PCI-express 256 MB Asus EN 6600 silencer vid card
420W power supply
and a Nemesis case with plenty of air flow(3 large fans or soemthign)

So im pretty sure my computer isnt over heating as i can feel cold air blowing out of it. My power supply is more than enough for my setup and my processor is top of the line and not being over clocked.

I think were just going to have to write this one up to bad software. Its no surprise that windows would be the route of this problem as its a really poor product. I would use Linux if it would play all my games and programs, but oh well. It seems to only happen to me when im using Limewire, which is odd because prior to this installation of windows i've never had this problem.

Oh well i supose. I just wish Microsoft could release soemthing that actually worked ;)

squirrel daddy...

i've bought a 420W PSU... i'm still on the observation period. One thing is certain, when I tried to install a new program. It didn't complete the installation and computer suddenlly rebooted. Im gonna try this one on the game that always crashes everytime i play...

what do you think?

thanks in advance...

Intel Pentium 4HT 3.0E GHz
Intel D865PERL
Sparkle Geforce 4 MX 4000
PQI 256MB PC-400 DDR
80GB Seagate barracuda 7200RPM
40GB Seagate 5600 RPM
Sony 52X CD-ROm
Sony 52x32x52 CD-RW

420 W is a bit on the low side but it should work ok.
I would say if its still doing the restarts and blue screens, its something else.
that vid card and ram seem a bit suspect.
reset all bios defaults and disable HT technology.

try that first

Ok i think i know how to stop this problem.
Go to my computer->right click->properties->advanced tab->start up and recover settings-> and uncheck the 'send an administrative alert and uncheck automatically restart (under the system failure section).
Just make sure your system isnt over heating first! In my case its a windows problem, because well, windows is garbage.
The problem was actually getting worse for me. I booted up the computer and the send error pop up would just keep popping up i had to ctrl+alt+del and cancel the something or other dump.exe to stop it.

It's the RAM.

Everyone that has been having this problem has DDR RAM. P4 Systems are very picky about how the RAM is matched and where it is placed on the motherboard. ONLY USE RAM PAIRS THAT ARE IDENTICAL IN SIZE AND MANUFACTURER, and make sure they are put on the board exactly as show in the motherboard manual. For myself, I took all of my existing RAM out, blew the dust out of my case, and reinserted the RAM in different location.

System has been running fine since....
