HELLO FOLKS, LAST TIME I COULD NOT EXPRESS FULLY ON WHAT I WATED TO SAY. WHEN I AM IN BIOS MY PC TELLS ME THE FOLLOWING:

BIOS VERSION K7S8X BIOS =P1.90
PROCESSOR AMD ATHLON (TM) XP 2600+
SPEED =2083 MHz
L1 CACHE =128KB
L2 CACHE= 256KB
TOTAL MEMORY = 256MB
DDR1 =256MB/166MHz(DDR333)
DDR2 =256 MB/166MHz(DDR333)

CPU HOST FREQUENCY -BY JUMPERS
ACTUAL FREQUENCY -166MHz
DDR FREQUENCY- AUTO

NOW MY QUESTION IS , THE ACTUAL SPEED SUPPOSED TO BE 333MHz AND NOT 166MHz, AND ALSO THE DDR FREQUENCY IS SET TO AUTO, IS IT NOT SUPPOSED TO BE 333MHZ AS WELL?

I SET THE FSB TO 333MHz ON MY MOTHERBOARD AS THE XP2600+ SPECS SAY (ATHLON XP 2600+ 2.083GHz) 333MHz

I HAVE NOT DONE ANY CHANGES TO THE MOTHERBOARD JUMPER SETTINGS IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE MULTIPLIER WHICH AT THE MOMENT IS 12.5.
BY THE WAY MY MOTHERBOARD IS AN SAROCK K7S8X AND GRAPHICS CARD IS A NIVIDA GFORCE4 8X 64MB M440X AND I AM RUNNING WINDOWS MELLENIUM. THE MOHERBOARD MANUAL SAYS IT DOES NOT SUPPORT OVERCLOCKING SO SHOULD I LEAVE THINGS AS THEY ARE OR I CAN SAFELY CHANGE THE MULTIPLIER WITHOUT DAMAGING MY MOTHERBOARD AND EVRERTIHING ELSE?

DDR stands for dual data rate. So by 166mhz it means the speed of single data but as it is DDR it will double. 166 is right. Also i would leave the settings well alone unless you know what your doing.

Yep guy above is right. 266mhz should be set to 133. 333mhz to 166 and 400mhz to 200.

And do not overclock it voids your warranty and will end the life of your components early!

Technically Speaking, wouldn't 167 be a better FSB choice, as it should be 166.6 recurring, which rounds to 167
