To Patric Durban
I have mine set up on a Dual-boot Win98/WinXP and it definately prefers WinXP.

It'll run on 98, but it's pain in the A$$ to install any new drivers.

With WinXP it's a Walk in the Park

It will work Patrick, but you have to install ALL the drivers manually... a time consuming pain, but it'll work.

I am completely disgusted with this board. I have exactly the same symptoms as others. No post, no video, then if I hit the reset button on the case I get the Beeping.

Athlon XP 2000+
2 - Kingston 512 MB DDR ram

I've tried every solution offered here:
Tried every combination of jumper settings for CPU/RAM speed - Nothing
Unplugged everything but the CPU and DRAM - No help
Removed the battery and shorted the clear cmos contacts - no help
The power supply is rated at 350 W and matches or exceeds the specs posted above.

I've removed the RAM and reseated it. Nothing.

I'm gonna throw this POS out and get another MB anybody have a suggestion?

Thanks

John (I'm so f**kin disgusted)

Tried reseating the processor ??

I am amazed, I have used these boards quite extensively, and there has been none of the major issues reported here. When one of mine started beeping, I reseated the processor, and it worked first time.

Yep this board is a nightmare alright. At least for a gamer.

SYS win 98

I can get it to work ok until I play BF1942, or Jumpgate <--Rocks! Then I get a strobbing effect like my hard drive is chugging, then a few minutes into the game it reboots.

I have had the same result with the onboard video AND my GeForce 2 GTS 64MB AGP card. The onboard video holds out a bit longer before going but is just terrible. I also made the leap and disabled the sound AND the onboard networking.

ASUCS A7N2660-VM PCB 1.03
Soundblaster live value
Linksys 10/100
GeForce 2 GTS 64MB

I have tried the Asus drivers, the detonator drivers, all sorts of drivers but all with the same result. The killer is that my old classic slot A 850 MHZ machine was quite a bit faster... Lame just pure lame..... If I cant get it to play a game without rebooting mid battle I am just getting a different board.

Any ideas??

Might upgrade the BIOS. It appears you are at 1.03, but 1.04 is available.

The 1.03 BIOS is not the best, I agree. You should update to 1.04. It seems to work sssssssooooooooooooo much better!

the 1.03 is the PCB number NOT the bios Iam running. But what is this 1.04 stuff. I think I am using 1.05 already.. Hmm??? maybe I should flash it DOWN!

FIXED!!!!

Looks as if I neglected to instal ALL of the drivers for the mother board. As I have win 98 all those lovely pci bridge, thingies need to be instaled one at a time.

My clue came while reading a post about someones AGP card being in PCI mode. So I followed the instructions from the start, and now my board is just a s fast/slow as I figured it might be. After all I just needed to best my classic slot A 850. Best thing is I was able to play BF1942 without it crashing out to black.

mark wallace, it will blow the doors off your classic Slot 'A' if you bother to set it up properly.

I'm now running my Duron 1300 on it at 1501MHz (8.0x 181 FSB)
See the screenshot below...

My doors are not yet being blown, but if by set up properly you mean overclocking it shouldn't need it.

I am no longer crashing out, but I still get a bit of chugging. First stability then speed.
