We have had customers like that recently, one wanted an AMD 2400+ (at the time the customer wanted this chip it was the latest thing;)) and he wanted to see it running we told him "no" why? because it would require our time from sorting out repairs and serving other customers and we didn't have a system with an AMD specific board up and running at the time, and we refuse to test an indavidual component for someone who will more than likely just go "oh that looks nice......bye".

And if someone did bring back a component and said it doesn't work we will test it to make sure, if it runs they lose 20% off of their money back and it's written in black and white at the bottom of the receipt, if the component they bought does not fit/work with their system then the 20% handling charge applies again (they should have done some research on the parts), if we see or detect signs of damage or tampering then their warranty is void and they are stuck with it:D

And I'm sure many other retailers roughly follow the same lines as us.
