ive seen many of the posts and read them but im still at a loss. I have recently upgraded my computer from:

So I now have an AMD 3200, a new case with 1 case fan and a AS Rock K7S8XE Mobo (AMD) ATX/LAN/SND/8xAGP/400FSB and I still get the same problems apart from now. It will restart after 1/2 - 1.5 laps on need for speed, before it wouldn’t do anything for a good 30 - 60 minuets. When I 1st got the new stuff I could play with full high graphics with no problem. Yesterday I tried an ASUS 128Mb V9520 Magic FX5200 TV Out and although it didn’t reset it did close the game and froze this one time. when Log onto windows I get a message informing me that windows has recovered from an serious error, I send the report and it opens a page with some information on, and saying it was a device driver that was at fault.
This is really getting annoying! especially now as my friends have level three everything on need for speed underground and I like to catch them up and give them a good thrashing.
I’ve noticed that the heat sink on my graphics card CPU was lose and I thinking of spending around £200 on a new graphics card or £120 on 1 GB PC 3200 DDR RAM. Id rather not buys this but if that’s what has to be done I would. Dose anyone have any solutions to this?


Well a game pad that worked in my old system worked, but now Windows won’t detect what type of page pad it is. It’s a USB 2 Axis 8 button game pad and I also don’t want to buy another one of them. And yes I do have a keyboard but I prefer a game pad.

ive also recently reinstalled XP pro and just to day 2 hours ago or less i purchased a Radeon 9600 pro and im still getting the same problem. although windows has just said it was most likely a hardwear problem.

There are a lot of threads on this problem if you do a google search. The ccPWDSvc error seems to be tied into Norton Anti-Virus. Are you running Norton. If so you may want to try and reinstall it.

i was but since then ive re installed formatted. xp pro and i still get the problem, i know there are a lot of posts, id like to get this fix tbh, as would a lot of people. ive also run a number of tests on my RAM which didnt pick up any errors RAM is the only thing that isnt new as well as the HDD

Try going into the system properties and and go to the advanced tab. In the box at the bottom, "Startup and Recovery hit the "Settings" button. in "System Failure" uncheck the box "Automatically Restart" then close it. The next time your computer crashes, instead of automatically restarting, it will give you a BSOD. The blue screen message may have more info than the event viewer, that you can use to narrow down the location of the error. Also did you try memtest86 for the memory. If not try that as well.

its now working, what i did was....

i ran microsofts RAM scanner thingy ma bob as well as updated windows xp, its not fully updated sp1 and some more critical ones as well as anything to do with video play back and crashing. 0 - 32 races with no crashing \o/
