I just bought this game and the performance is terrible.

I got the following configuration:
AMD Athlon XP 2100
768MB RAM DDR
GeForce 4 Ti4200 with AGP8X
80GB HDR
Windows XP Pro

A decent specification. I run many other games such as the new NFS Underground no problems whatsoever with performance. Then I load this POP, and I have never seen such terrible performance in all my life.... YUK.

I have tried everything from overclocking, to killing all background services, processes and applications, adding even more RAM, and so on....

The game is so slow It would be impossible to fight more than one enemy at a time as I think the PC would just crash. Anyone having the same problems or know what I could try?

UBI support is dreadful and they tell me the usual crap that my PC is not configured correctly and such crap... I have played dozens of other high performance games and NO problems.... there must be something I have missed.

Any help will be great....

Hi, I had the same problem on my PC, but it's allright now.

My configuration is:

Intel Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128 MB RAM
512 MB DDR RAM
Windows XP Pro
...
...

I play POP now in 1280 x 1024 and all settings are set to maximum.
Game performance is great.

The problem was in drivers for graphic card. I had NVIDIA drivers version 44.03
I uninstalled those drivers and install OLDER version 43.45 and problem was solved.
You can download latest drivers from http://www.nvidia.com and they might solve the problem also,
but drivers version 43.45 will almost surely solve your problem.

Please post a message when you replace drivers for Graphic Card,
just to now if it works.

Sorry because of my English...

Hi
I have some problems when trying to play POP, I have an Intel 82865G graphics card and apparantely it is not recognised by the game, any solutions to my problems would be much appreciated. I am given various errors and then the game does not run?

There is a section about supported video cards in Manual.pdf (in the game directory)
Supported video cards are: GeForce III or higher (Excluding GeForce IV MX.) or ATI Radeon 8500 or higher.
So I think the problem is that game doesn't support your video card (Intel 82865G). Sorry...

You are trying to use Intel "Extreme" graphics Robin...Get a new PCI graphics card...the best option you have is a 256mb 5200...150..Or get a new mobo and get an agp graphics card.....Your choice, but you can't play many newer games with a video card like that......

You really had to play all of those games with a controller ... they were hard to play with a keyboard/mouse. As soon as I starting playing The Sands of Time, I found that out, and went and bought a Saitek P880. Worked a lot better for me.

PoP:SoT has been known to be able to be run on Intel onboard graphics with this tool:

http://www.techenclave.com/applications/3d-analyze-v2-26-graph...91070.html

I have done it, its not the best performance ever, but works.

ok.. the problem is not the driver or what soever.. the main problem is the game is old.. published 2003 and your system now is too powerful to play that game.. ok.. to fix the blue foggy screen at the game main menu, simply go to option menu and click graphic, then turn off the fog..

to fix the game frame rate or the game speed.. you need to set your multicore cpu to only 1 core.. because the game is designed 2003 that time only single core available cpu.. to do this.. just run the game and pres alt+tab and open the task manager... then right-click the pop.exe process and click set affinity.. and uncheck all CPUs BUT only tick CPU 0.. if you running on amd triplecore processor it should have CPU 0, CPU 1 and CPU 2.. if you running core2duo should have CPU 0 and CPU 1.. but only thick CPU 0 so it will use only 1 cpu.. is that clear? ok now switch back to the game.. and your game should run normal now...

IF you dont understand any single word what i'm talking here ... well.. just download the game fix here..

http://www.mediafire.com/file/w1yrdzjhn22/PoPSoTMulticoreCPUFix.zip

extract to game directory and run the fix

Funny I just got this game recently and that foggy thing happened to me, although I manage to fix it quickly.

\\P.S.\\This is a very old thread.

The game runs perfectly on intel processor pc's using 3d analyser.
do the following instructions and get rid of it.
(1)Open 3d Analyser.
(2)Select POP in 3d analyser.
(3)Then under 'Hardware Limits(cap bits)' section select all options.
(4)Now under 'Pixel and vertex shader' section select:
force max. pixel shader 1.4
skip pixel shader version 2.0
force low precision pixel shader
(5)Use graphic card Vender ID 4098 and Device ID 20040.
(6)Now press 'RUN' tab in 3d analyser.
(7)Start game not on safe mode.
(8)In game option set fog off.
Now your game will run perfectly on pc but remember that you choose POP.EXE in 3d Analyser not PrinceOfPersia.EXE.
