I have an "ancient" AIW 8500 DV card and I want to upgrade it's software. I understand the Catalyst drivers are 'universal' for all ATI Radeon cards. If I order the 9600 AIW installation CD from ATI, in order to get support for DVD playback and the latest of everything, will it work? Would I be better off getting the one for the 8500 with MMC 8.1 and upgrading that from there? Is there ANY way around buying the CD? I know it's only 10 bucks but it's ridiculous... just how long until I have to buy another one?
