>> Re: EyeToy on PC... Drivers located!
The EyeToy is definitely worth using as a PC webcam. We have tested many webcams, and found other cameras of similar image quality cost 3-4 as much! Therefore we want to use it in our associated schools.

Which leads to my problem. The Sairuk/Ionstorm version has issues (microphone not supported, hard to install, two versions etc) which make it hard to use by newbies. NOTE: The version at Driversguide is also the same as the Sairuk/Ionstorm version. I have tested this version extensively, even made improvements to it myself, but still find it less than perfect for a wider audience.

Therfore, I had dearly hoped to find the version <Jonathan Gowdy> mentions, which is by by BSteam (selik), (Spanish with English translation) and was posted to http://ps2torrent.com. <Chris Leigh> posted an updated link, but unfortunately both versions are no longer available. I had hoped someone would know where I could source this version.

Has anyone got a current link to the BStream version, (NOT the Sairuk/Ionstorm or Driversguide versions) or have a copy they could email me?

Once I have a good version, I intend to get the microphone working, create a simple installation package and share it from my website so everyone can have the best version possible. But I need the BSteam (selik) version to do this.

Many thanks,

Eric

Thank you <Corey Zusag> for your reply, but I am sorry to say you are not a god.

If you read my post closely, you will notice I have found a number of problems with the Sairuk/Ionstorm version. The version at Driversguide is also the same as the Sairuk/Ionstorm version. I have tested this version extensively, even made improvements to it myself, but still find it less than perfect for a wider audience.

I have also read this thread extensively. Therfore, I had dearly hoped to find the version <Jonathan Gowdy> mentions, which is by by BSteam (selik), and was posted to http://ps2torrent.com. <Chris Leigh> posted an updated link, but unfortunately both versions are no longer available. Once I have a good version, I intend to get the microphone working, create a simple installation package and share it from my website so everyone can have the best version possible. But I need the BSteam (selik) version to do this.

Lets hope someone grabbed the BSteam (selik) version while it was up, and that they read this post...

Eric

For those of you having problems getting the drivers to work and are familiar with editing the registry, I found the fix...

Okay, do a search in the registry for the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}

If that 6BDD..etc key does NOT exist, just simply create it under "Class" as noted above.

Once that is done, you need to create (or there should be) two strings: (well, three if you count (Default) )

1st string
Name: Class
Value Data : "Image"

2nd string
Name: Link
Value Data : "Image"

And that should be it. You should now see it in the device manager under "Image". Hope this works for you.

I've put together a set of drivers for both models of EyeToy in one package together with instructions on installing, and it doesn't require the user to edit the INF files or identify their camera model.

http://tjworld.net/help/kb/0008_Eyetoy.html

Summary

This is a totally automatic Windows Me/2000/XP/2003 driver package for Playstation 2 EyeToy Web-cam models SLEH-00030 and SLEH-00031. No user intervention or editing of driver INF files is required. Windows reports the correct camera model number in Device Manager, and the microphone audio driver is installed too.

I have got it working on win xp home(it should also work on xp pro.)
--- note: make sure you uninstall all other drivers that you have goofed off with first

Here is my modified driver:
http://mattmark.com/dsbc310_winxp2k98se_driver_110.zip

1. Unzip the files
2. Plug in the eyetoy, then point the install hardware to the directory where you unzipped the files.
3. After you get it to install it will come up with a 50hz thing just click ok.
4. In the same filefolder go to the: AMCAP.EXE Once you are there make sure the right devices are selected! (under the devices menu)
5. Finally go to options and make sure the preview menu item is checked.

That should be it! e-mail me: eagle@mattmark.com

I had the driver for the eyetoy awhile back (worked good) Using windows XP Pro Service Pack 2. I had a harddrive crash couple months ago.....I tried my old drivers and they wouldn't work (something about file 39-and maybe corrupt) I downloaded NEW drivers from tjworld.net and didn't work. Downloaded from http://members.driverguide.com and it also didn't work (corrupt or missing file filters) Any Help ???

I found the most useful drivers at http://eyetoy.co.nr they come on windows and the mac and linux versions are being devoloped. They are absolutly free and unlike others come with an InstallShield type installer making them extremely easy to install, three differerent video capture programs and email and forum support

EDIT:It also comes with microphone support or you can use the generic windows USB mic drivers
