I did it and all it says is...

McAfee AVERT Stinger Version 1.9.4 built on Jan 1 2004
Copyright (C) 2002-2003 Networks Associates Technology, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Virus data file v1000 created on Dec 21 2003
Ready to scan for 36 viruses, trojans and variants.

Scan initiated on Sun Jan 11 18:32:16 2004
Number of clean files: 86056

...so what does this mean?

It means you have no viruses on your comp. I just ran the same scan
and got the same results.

Abit IC7
P4 2.8 800fsb w/HT
Volcano 7+
pc 4000 512mb
40 Gb 7200 rpm

If it's worth doing, then it's probably illegal.

Yes ,it will show you every virus you have that is listed and will remove them for you.It takes 2 to 5 min. to do the scan, boy is it worth it.I thought I would post it here so people can use it when they want or people can referrence them to this thread if they think they may have a virus. This way people won`t have to go hunting for something to check for VIRUS`s .It`s here. All you have to do is click on the link and run from the page, and follow directions.

Nice link Roy. One of my pet peeves with AVG, as much as I like it, it doesn't scan compressed files

No, scan on demand only. It is small enough to fit easily on a floppy disk though and has done a good job of cleaning a couple of infected pc's that i've seen - beats downloading all the removal tools (but tend to do that anyway just to make sure). Still, it is only checking for a few of the latest ones out of god knows how many thousand that have been written.

I've been using it for a while now - its picked up viruses that norton has missed or been unable to remove, conversely sometimes it fails to remove them but does find them !! - I then use nortons removal tools - so I find it best to use it in tandem with other software
