hi

I'm having problems booting the asus PC-DL deluxe motherboard. it powers up and all the fans start up, but stops there, no screen signal, no status-beeps...nothing.

It is equipped with two intel xeon 2.4Ghz CPU's, one 512Mb Kingston KVR400X72C3 stick, and a S3 virge PCI graphics-card. Power is supplied with a Antec true550p 550W

I dont know where to start...anyone else having this problem?

I forgot to mention...a small red LED is turned on when i boot the computer, its called LED1 and is located between the IDE1 and IDE2 sockets, is this normal? or in any way related to my booting problems?

I don't know what is causing your boot problem but I did see from the downloaded pdf file of the user manual that the led you are seeing is the power led. Its just a warning to the end user that power is supplied to the mobo and should be disconnected before working on it. About your boot problem...have you had a successful boot yet? Are there any beeps? Take a look under the graphics card and make sure the LED isn't lit there either. If it is lit the motherboard isn't allowed to boot as a protective feature.

I always manage to forget to add something. Your power supply...You must have the 24pin and 8pin power supply connectors. If you want to look at a picture and see check out the diagram at pcpowercooling http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/power_supplies/highperf...hp_atx.htm
check it out. Your power supply might not be the right one.

I try with 1 Xeon & 1 infineon 512 But excatly the same...
My graphic card is a Radeon 9600XT
And my power supply is ... an Antec True Power 380W

Magnus, have u try to change your power supply ?
I just change it and now the pc is beeping (not working but i have probably a problem of memory)
Take an EPS power supply and have a look on the other topics (Xander's one) that talk about PC-DL...

I also have a similar problem, I built the system, asus pc dl, dual 3.06 xeons, quadro fx 3000 graphics card and a pair of corsair 512 pc3200. The system power up and seemed to be working apart from no display, so I switched off, the graphics card was not quite in the slot, so I pushed it in tried to power on again and got the same results as all of you, the led's come on for a split second, the cpu coolers turn for a second, the power led on the motherboard comes on and thats it, my power supply(400w) only has a 20 and four pin connector, I have been told that the psu should be ok, but I'm not sure. Anyone had any luck, this is really p**sing me off.

Brian to answer your cooling question (if it hasnt already been answered somewhere else) most people I know who use the PC-DL use the Swiftech MCX603 heatsink. It works very well, though pricey at $100 for a pair. However, its arguably the best. About a fan you could use a variety, however I saw one person in another forum using the Thermaltake Smart Case Fan II with the Swiftech heatsink and he was getting very low cpu temps.

Almost definately it is your power supply.

The ASUS PCDL with any dual processors requires a MINIMUM of 460W with dedicated 12V pins to the CPU's.

I'd recommend going for the Enermax 3 in 1 650Watt. (http://www.enermax.com.tw/eg651pvefm24P.htm) It's an excellent quiet dual-fan power supply that comes with 24-pin connection which is required for this board.

Good luck.

I have a new Chaintech 9CJS P4 2.8c . I just built this and used the asus 9600xt video card and my computer powers up but no beep and it does not post . If I turn it off than wait one minute it will power up and post fine, When I called Asus they said we recomend a 400 watt power suply , I have a 380 watt antec but they said it should work. Any way I have seen people with a 420 watt with the same problem ,have any of you guys found an answer to this . Thanks

I have (or should i say had) a working asus pc-dl for nearly 8 months with
550W antec
2x2.4 with HT activated
533bus
2x512 ddr333 crucial
gf4ti4800se
4x60G IDE hard drives
1x120G SATA hard drive
CDRW/DVD ROM
DVD-/+R-/+RW
PCI Soundblaster
mouse keyboard etc

Three days ago it started to have boot problems after i added a pci radeon 9000 for some dual monitor action. If i told it to reboot, it would hang where it would normally detect what was plugged into the raid controller and would hang every reboot unless i completly powered off.

So i tried to reflash the bios with 1004, but that had problems. It erased and programed it, but failed verification, another try produced a crash trying to verify.

And to my horror it refused to boot! For the first time the red led next to the bios chip/ide devices flashed when i turned on, fans all spun etc but no display.
No prolbem i thought, it's just a corrupt bios, or at worst a broken bios chip.
Wrong.
Having tried to flash the bios in a mates computer with my suspect chip proved it to be broken.
So i got hold of a spar 4mb chip and tested that the chip was good.
Flashed it with my bios and put it in the board.
Still had the same problems.

Having just read this post, i am optimistic that i have pushed my psu to hard and it has died.

550Watt supply.
~200W for the two chips
~90W for the GF4
~50W for the board
~60W for the 5 Hard drives(max~12W each)
~20W for the soundcard
~50W for optical drives

Total ~470W

EEEP!

New psu to be tested soon, will let you know

I have now solved my problem, the answer, would seem to me to be, dont mess with cheap power supplies,if you are going to run a duel processor system, I threw mine out and got an antec true power 550watt, and all is now well

Right, turns out one of my mates has an SSi PSU in his machine with an adapter cable.

However, i still have my problem. Using his psu i get exactly the same result, fans go one, leds flash on power up and power down. I have however ruled out my psu and memory as problems.

RMA the motherboard for me :/ I'm in the UK so i got it from dabs, normally pretty good with rma's in my experience. I just hope that they are this time, 6-8 weeks without my main PC is gonna hurt.

like most other people here, the board powers up, the green light is on and nothing else happens.. the no blinks , no beeps and no audio warnings... wonder if that is supposed to happen at all.

did anyone with this problem manage to find a way out at all - this is turning out to be pretty hopeless and a waste..

Cresus orez, I have the same problem as you. When I turn on, my board boots up fine for about 5 secs with a beep and there is no red led on but 1 green led, I can see the screen and all and when I pressed tab I can see the status of the cpu and memory. Then after that, the comp just turn off. Anyone can help me and him on this?

Comp stat:

Asus PC-DL with 2 x 3.06 ghz xeon
2 x Corsair 512mb ddr PC3200
550W power supply for dual xeon
swiftech heat sink for dual xeon 800mhz
ati 9600xt 128mb ddr

thankx in advance

Ok this is the problem I have. The system was OK before.
The system doesn't seem to update the BIOS. I Cleared RTC RAM (CLRTC1) and tryed to update BIOS v.006 but I keep getting 'CMOS checksum error -defaulf loaded'
This is the display I get when booting up.

Any help would be much appreciated. Many Thanks
