Radeon 9600 Freezing & Graphics Corruption

My brother loves the game Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

The game (although tedious to me, (I hate RPGs)) is graphically intensive for a movie based game. Anyhow, his computer tends to freeze -- and frankly, I'm not sure why it would do this for any reason besides the video card. I say this because I put in a Radeon 9000 and no freezing problems, but the graphics card is not nearly as good. I also have Rage3D currently installed, and it was overclocked. But resetting the clock speeds or underclocking does not affect it.

In Medal of Honor the game is fine for a while, then in like 30-45 minutes into play, there is some graphical corruption, models and scenery gets fuzzy. Buildings will be clear, or they will look strange or pieces of the buliding will extend forever. I had a similar problem with an overclocked Geforce 4 Ti 4800SE on a different system.

I'm thinking this is Catalyst 3.10 or overheating.

His computer specs:
Nforce 2 400 board
Athlon 2400+
512 DDR 400 RAM
Radeon 9600 256 MB Omega Drivers Cat 3.10
WinXP Home SP1

thank you!

Does your card have Passive heatsink? I have a HIS Radeon 9600 128mb with passive heatsink but seems fine to me, it's not overheating! I suggest that you roll back the drivers to Catalyst 3.6 'coz it's the best driver for 9600 for me. Catalyst 3.10 has a lot of game fixes but it sacrificed some framerates on some games.

I fixed the MOHAA (Quake 3) Problem by turning of FSAA and AF... There are still graphical glitches and freezes in LORT:ROTK

I got lots of graphical glitching in rotk and I don't get any in any other games with my 9700 pro, I had to lower the clock speeds to stop the corruption in rotk.

I am experiencing corrupted graphics when playing Max payne 2, rainbow six crashes and so on and so forth. The video card gives me no problems with games like GTA2 and Diablo 2.
