Could not load OpenGL. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer's web site.

Uhhmmm... It's running with a GeForce Ti 200, and it worked fine before I updated to Windows Xp Pro for networking purposes (was running Win 98). I don't know what other specs you would need, but I would like as much help as you people are willing to give, thanks.

Following up on my original post from over a year ago, I never did resolve this video problem.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein (and any games based on that game engine, which there are many) NEVER did work right on my Ti4200 card, no matter the drivers, hardware, motherboard, RAM, you name it. I tried everything over a period of months. That particular card just didn't work with that game engine (sometimes, after a re-install into a new machine or on a new motherboard, it would run RtCW just fine, but once you changed ANY graphic setting within the game, it would freeze up and not work again). I bought a different card (Ti4200) and it worked with RtCW like a charm.

I should have sent the card that didn't work back, but I was never convinced that the card was at fault. I still use it in a second machine and it runs EVERYTHING else but RtCW-based games PERFECTLY. Go figure.

i have a similar problem, i get this message from several games that all use the quake 3 arena thing: Quake 3 arena, american Mcgee's lice, jedi outcast, and demos: Jedi outcast, call of duty, Jedi academy.

all of these have this problem. they were all working until recently (it could have been reinstalling windows or updating windows that stuffed it all up)
my system is windows XP which has just been updated (46 individual updates at least)
the driver is Nvidia Geforce2 MX 100/200 which i'm now updating to the latest version (53.03 or something)
if this doesn't fix it what should i do?
i've never even heard of OpenGL, what is it and why isn't it functioning properly anymore? is there a way to update OpenGL to fix this problem?

i just updated my Nvidia drivers to the current one, that fixed my problems with all my games that use that engine. So update the graphics drivers first, make sure that it is the current one. good luck

that CD you need to finish updating, i can't remember what mine was but i needed a CD too once... just check setup and windows and graphics device CDs (or whatever) that you should have from when getting the computer (or the graphics card if that was separate???), i don't know what you have... good luck.

FIX FOR OPENGL PROBS WITH XP AND GEFORCE/NVIDIA CARDS
If you have Opengl problems, use XP and a geforce 4 mx440: this WILL fix your problem.
It really is as simple as downloading the latest driver for your card. I know it's a pain 'cos they're big files and it doesn't always fix your problems but in this case it works.
XP DEFAULT DRIVERS DO NOT SUPPORT OpenGL.
The driver you want is version 56.64 which is 14.5 mb (I used the international version, I'm in the UK).
One final note: You are supposed to unload the previous driver first but XP put it's driver straight back after boot up, so I just installed the driver over the top instead and MOHAA worked first time.
Hope this helps I know how frustrating it is.
Have fun!

Mohaa works find on my gfx card (fx 5200) when i ran it in pci mode, ever since i update to 56.72 nvida driver, it ran it back to agp 4x. You should try to put the gfx card in pci mode and sees if it works, also i heard that if you disable fastwrite it might work. One more thing, how do you disable fastwrite and change the gfx card from agp to pci mode?

I had a Geforce 3 Ti 200 and Jedi Academy ran flawlessly on it. I recently upgraded to an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and now I'm getting this error. I've downloaded the latest drivers from ATI's website, so it can't be a lack of supported drivers. All my other games run fine, so I'm baffeled at what the problem might be. Anyone figure this mystery out yet?

Hi there

I am suffering this exact problem too. Here are my system specs:

Pentium 4 1.5ghz processor
512MB ram
Windows XP Pro OS
Radeon 7000 AGP Graphics card
Latest Direct X and Grfx card drivers
approx 20GB free
Keyboard and mouse
52x speed CD/DVD drive

I would love to play Medal Of Honor Allied Assault (and Spearhead expansion) but this error stops me from doing so...If anybody can help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated and If you need any more system info then let me know as I really want to be able to play MOHAA :).

>> The last and final solution, I got lucky
Here is the only thing I did that worked. I spent days trying to get it to work, and then started reading this. All of these were things that may have fixed it, but after trying them, they didn't, and I stumbled upon this:

Voodoo and 3DFX drivers that were literally made into the openGL system. This is what to do:

Go to the folder of the OpenGL based game you are trying to play, and look through the folders. Look for the following:

Voodoogl.dll, opengl.dll, opengl32.dll, 3dfxgl.dll

Take Voodoogl and 3dfxgl out of the fold and put them on your desktop (incase this doesn't fix your problem you can put them back), now, run your mouse across the opengls, when the information comes up, there is a line that says manufacturer. I saw this and one said "3dfx." Take this and put it on your desktop. The other one should say "manufacturer: Microsoft" Keep this one.

Look through all the folders of the opengl games, and do so. This fixed it for me. I was trying to play Medal of Honor, Allied Assult.

I had the same OpenGL-problems after having installed Return To Castle Wolfenstein on my new system (AMD 64 3000, GF 6600GT, 512 MB RAM) and playing around with the graphics settings after having it started for the first time

The problem was that in the options (after the program has started you'll reach the options by pressing ESC and then clicking on "options" ) I set the screen resolution to 2048x1536. After that, the game didn't start anymore (giving me the OpenGL error everyone is talking about in this forum), so I was unable to reach the options again.

So I deleted the file "wolfconfig.cfg" in C:\Program Files\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\Main\ and restarted the game. I played around with the screen resolutions and the only thing that didn't work was a resolution of 2048x1536 (I didn't try the lower resolutions like 640x480, only went down to 800x600 ). Now I play on 1600xsomething and it looks great.
Maybe the problem arises when the chosen resolution cannot properly be displayed by your graphics adaptor.

Before I found my own solution I also tried the "direct GL"-driver that was was mentioned before by other users of the forum, but this didn't work for me. The game now started without an OpenGL-error but the graphics was completely broken. There were only a few colourful sqares on the screen, the mouse pointer also was a yellow square. But the music played fine ;-)

Hope that someone can use this solution.

Michael
