I am trying to capture my old VHS home movies to DVD, the problem is that the quality of my audio and video is perfect except that every 8-10 seconds both the audio and video skip...this happens with every tape I copy, off any VCR, with any program I use...Does anyone have any suggestions or fixes?

Thanks in advance...my pc specs are below.

AMD Athlon 1.336 gig CPU, 1gig PC2100 DDR Ram, Winows XP Home,(1)80gig WD HD, (2)20gig WD HD's USB External, Indi TDK 8X DVD Burner, Velo TDK 12X/10X/32X CDR/RW, LG 16X DVD Rom, Asus A7N266VM Mainboard, 64mb nVidiaGeForce2 Integrated Video Card, nVidia nForce MCP Audio Card w/Dolby Pro Logic, Avermedia EZDVD Maker PCI Capture Card

Slow your copy speed. Your noises are caused by buffer overruns.

I've run into the same problem with a P4 3.06, 768 MB DDR 2100 with a 7200 2MB buffered hard drive. In order to get it to work I've had to drop the recording quality of the capture. I'm not happy about it but it looks like the hard drive is the bottleneck. The only way to fix it may be to set up a RAID with a couple of disks.
