After installing the Audiophile 2496 PCI soundcard and rebooting, the XP new hardware update wizzard detects the driver cd and starts copying Delta Audiophile drivers into the Windows directory.

However, suddenly this operation stops and XP asks for the "M audio Delta Driver Disk" where it looks for the delta.sys file. After manually setting the path to delta.sys on the original delivered "Midiman Driver D" cd in the Delta Series/WinXP directory, the hardware wizzard resumes with copying files ending with the message that the hardware could not be installed. After rebooting the hardware is still not installed.

What do I need to do to get my soundcard working? Manual install? Where should I put which files on the C:\ drive then?

There's a (relatively) new set of drivers (release on 10th May, 776Kb) for all of the Delta series at http://www.midiman.de/d_delta.htm (second block down from the top has the 2000/XP versions) together with a 98Kb driver uninstall utility, which I'd suggest you also download and run, just to remove any files from your previous attempted install.
