I've got a Gainward GeForce4 ti4200 128MB that pukes out on OpenGL games. RTCWolfenstein runs in single-player mode as long as I don't change any graphics or sound settings, if I do, it locks up hard. I can manually make graphic/sound setting changes in the .cfg file and the changes work fine the next time I run the game, but it will NOT run multiplayer mode no matter what, just locks as it starts up the OpenGL console.

3DMark2001SE works perfectly, and my scores are awesome (7700-8700 depending on O/Cing the CPU and GPU), but SiSoftware Sandra crashes when I try to get any info on OpenGL.

I've done everything: updated mobo BIOS, new mobo VIA/AMD drivers, tried many different Nvidia drivers, got a new 350watt PS, swapped RAM, added RAM, pulled out all other cards, tested every system component in another machine (unfortunately, the other machine has the same mobo and parts), and I tried numerous mobo BIOS AGP-related settings, all with the same exact result: the video card works great except with OpenGL. And O/Cing the CPU and/or the GeForce card doesn't seem to affect anything (except 3DMark scores and a little higher chip temps in MotherBoardMonitor 5, of course).

My System: ASUS A7M266 mobo, 256MB unbuffered DDR RAM, AMD Athlon 1200Mhz CPU, 350watt PS, Gainward Ultra 650 TV (Gold Sample) GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB, Soundblaster Live! 5.1, WindowsXP Pro

You need to make sure you have the latest OpenGL driver for your video card.

Have you tried downloading and installing the lastest drivers for your card from their site?

Do a copy and paste on the link I provided above. Just clicking on it doesn't work for some strange reason.

I had the same problem also and it just turned out to be that i needed to update drivers and also Direct X
(try swearing lots too, it helps )) )

DirectX update was going to be my next suggestion, hopefully it will work for him.

Ya, dirextx 9.0a should fix this.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that 9.0 was a bit flaky from the start on a lot of cards (even some of those that stated they fully supported it), you don’t have to look too far through most forums to find people complaining about it, but that 9.0a runs a lot smoother (my card is one that doesn’t advertise full support of 9.0). Anyone got any comments on 9.0b? I’ve seen people talking about it here and there, but not tried it myself.

FIX FOR OPENGL PROBS WITH XP AND GEFORCE/NVIDIA CARDS
If you have Opengl problems, use XP and a geforce 4 (I have the mx440): this WILL fix your problem.
It really is as simple as downloading the latest driver for your card. I know it's a pain 'cos they're big files and it doesn't always fix your problems but in this case it works, the reason being:
XP DEFAULT DRIVERS DO NOT SUPPORT OpenGL.
The driver you want is version 56.64 which is 14.5 mb (I used the international version, I'm in the UK).
One final note: You are supposed to unload the previous driver first but XP put it's driver straight back after boot up, so I just installed the driver over the top instead and MOHAA worked first time.
