I have a Dell Dimension 8300 (big mistake I know now).

It is a P4 2.6ghz with 1280MB PC3200 Ram. Geforce MX420 64mb graphics card.

Whenever I start the computer just after the bios boots, an error is displayed saying:

'system battery voltage low'

I told Dell about this problem and they replaced the motherboard, however it has started to happen again, and I thought I would seek your advice because (as you probably know) Dell don't seem to have a clue and take weeks.

Does anyone know why this is happening or how to find out why it is happening?

Thanks

I've just tested the Ram and its not that. Are there any programs that can test each piece of hardware to see if it's that?

Thanks

Exactly the same problem with mine (dell 8300). ????? Mine started after a few months from new, stopped for a while then started again....

It's being going for over a year tho and the "SYSTEM BATTERY VOLTAGE FRIGGIN LOW" hasn't flashed up yet so I assume the damn thing isn't actually running out?

If u found out what was up, please post on here so I can either send mine back or sort it out. Thnx.

Don't suppose for one minute yours started after installing music production software or a hewlett packard printer? I have had no end of problems since on mine!!!!!!!!

Luv Soaps....

Stupid as it may sound, have you tried replacing the CMOS battery?

I never figured out exactly what was wrong with mine, I just sent it to Dell and they replaced the whole motherboard, haven't had any probs since.

I can't remember when mine started happening.

Sorry I couldn't help much.

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 & up to now had no problems. I phoned Dell re this problem & was told it was a fault with my mains plug & should plug the computer in somewhere else. This was yesterday so will wait to see!
