I have just ordered these pieces to upgrade my PC. Since I completed my assembly of my new configuration. I set the CPU_Clock at 133 Mhz I adjusted the ratio. I started the computer but nothing on screen...
I tried many things to solve this problem, til now I am wondering if it is my CPU or video card which are defective.
Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Mothercard
CPU: Athlon XP 1800+
Fan: WBK38-II
Graphic card: GeForce 4 MX 440 à 270 Mhz (Chaintech - A-G448), 64 Mo memory of DDR-SDRAM at 200 Mhz
RAM: DDR 512 Mo PC2100 (Anonymos)
Hard disk: Barracuda ATA IV 40 Go
Samsung HD 20 Go
DVD ROM & CDRW LTR-48X12X48
Is there anyone who can help me, I am really desappointed...I need help

This is a fantastic motherboard. I upgraded from a VRXP 1.1 to a VRXP 2.0 to the VAXP. I have been using Gigabyte motherboards since the GA7-ZX1 first came out and have never had a probem with any of them...not one problem!

I've had troubles with my computer overheating. I have a 7vaxp with an Athlon XP 2100+ and it gets up to 80 degrees celsius when I leave it on for more than ten minutes and eventually overheats and shuts off. I've applied thermal paste before i started the computer the first time. At first I thought I put too much on at first b/c it was overheating. So i took some off and it still does the same thing.

whateva i do what i want

What heatsink/fan are you using? Make sure it's seated properly (not leaning to one side etc) Also check your vcore setting in bios. 80c is rediculously hot so something is definetly going wrong here.

I tried lowering the bus speed to 100 and its at 63 degrees celcius steady, but at this speed it only reads as a 1500+. I don't know why it is overheating. It's not really steady it just takes longer to overheat. I have thermal paste on the processor. I just don't get why its messin up. The vcore is 1.772

The voltage is correct it should be at 1.772 I agree with the previous postings it does sound like a heat problem, almost as if the heatsink isn't making contact with the chip. Try another heatsink is the best solution the one I'm using is called a Falcon Rock but I cannot remember the anme of the company something like fanner or something (search for falcon rock cooler anyway), the temperature never goes above 44 at the moment and works out cheaper than coolermaster fans by a few pounds or dollars (depends where you live).

Another thing to try if your system is reseting while your playing games or locking up in the BIOS try the system with the top performance feature disabled as it caused my system to black screen and not boot at all whenever I tried using it so it might cause different problems on other hardware setups.

See bio for system setup.

Found a solution for 80°C temp =>

in french text "
température à 80°C .malgre
un volcano et 4 ventilo dans le boitier .
La panne était du au spacer '' suppression du spacer
machine à 34°c (cpu) .
"
translation =>
80°C despite of CPU FAN "Volcano 4" and 4 other SYS Fan
Due to the "spacer" => removed and all works fine with 34°C.

Hope this helps !

What's your power supply set too and does your motherboard have that extra 4 pin power connector? (Make sure the power supply is set to 115v and if you have the extra connecter try it without that plugged in)

I retract that "4 pin connector" question, we've got the same board and I know it doesn't have it =P

For Michael C .

Sorry I returned back to that forum in french and i couldn't send a mel to the author of this post. I was thinking "spacer" was an english word and was common in mobo's vocabulary.
I will post onto that forum to know the sense of this word.

It has no sense in french and I ask myself if it is the transparent thing between CPU and fan itself.... but how to connect them directly ?

by the way => the CPU fan uses 600 Ma (milliampere) maxi. TO be verified

for michael C :

What is a spacer ?

see it at : http://www.rueducommerce.fr/info/showdetl.cfm?product_id=348203

this is a thin copper thing to avoid CPU overburn and it has been made for old CPU. You probably haven't got now. It is placed between radiator and CPU for protrcting CPU during Fan build.
It upgrades the thermal disspation. they said.

For thermal paste use a "Silver Icer" one (look silver color not transparent pink etc and only over the silicium itself not over the whole CPU - on the picture this is the center hole which is that place to use thermal paste).

In fact not using this object will decrease at least 10°C !
With a volcano there is sold none. Only may be in CPU in in-box packages.

Sorry for bad english ;-) hope only not too bad for reading.

I just recently purchased the 7axp mobo and have the same problem like most here. It was running fine for 2days until I started playing CS game. It restart by itself after 5 minutes of playing. After that, it will either show blue screen or restart by itself even when i am not running any application. I formated the HD and tried to install windows xp. After numerous attempt, i finally got it installed. Now it'll boot up but have the same problem again. I only use the usual device, nothing fancy. I didn't even install any program in it, just whatever that comes with the windows disc. Please help me out.

7axp
athlon xp 2000
maxtor 60gb 7200rpm HD
Visiontek Geforce 2 agp card
216 samsung 2700 memory
cd burner
sony fdd

PLEASE HELP!!!

I'd try updating the bios and swapping the memory just to see if it helps.
