Sorry for my last post, but you did not mention anything that I had asked so I thought I was wasting my time, sorry bro.
Power Supply looks good.
You said in your first post you had a 1800 installed, now I am not an expert on the speeds of CPU’s so what I am going to say may all be false.
If you had an 1800 installed that switch on the Motherboard SW1, may have been set for 100 default, thinking that the 1800 ran at 200 fsb, then you said you had a 2200, I thought 2200XP, this runs at 266 fsb so set it to 133, then you say it could be a sempron 2200, if this is correct then you may have to set the switch to 166 as the sempron runs at 333 fsb.
Do you have the manual for the board? if not I can send it to you..

Okay,

Thanks for the offer on the manual, however, I have a manual. I've confirmed that I have an AMD XP 2200+ with 266 fsb. Do I set the SW1 to "off?"

Hello Derick.

I used to run an Athlon XP2200+ on my GA7-VAXP. This CPU runs at 266mhz. You should set both switches on SW1 to off. This will give you a 133mhz system bus frequency. The clock ratio switch should be left on 'Auto'. (switches 1,2,3,4 off and switch 5 on).

Hope this helps.

Andy

From what I have worked out your PSU can easily handle what you have already got in the system, I'd personally leave the FSB and clock ratio settings on auto even though the 2200 does indeed only run at 266 they didn't step up to 333MHz until the AMD 2600+ Barton.

I'd still try the system out with a fresh reloaded drive, just to eliminate it from the list of possibilities...I don't trust the BIOS updating software supplied with the board as I remember seeing a few posts (possibly earlier in this thread) that it downloaded and flashed the incorrect BIOS for a slightly different model of the board and totally fudged it. So I just do it the old fashioned way as you know you got the correct BIOS and if it doesn't work just revert back to the old one.

See bio for system setup.

I've had the GA-7VAXP Ultra since it came out last year and am very happy with it.
It now has a AMD 3000XP@333
1024 megs of 2 512 Hyper X 3200 400@333 <-- bummer when it couldn't run @ 400
1 - 75gig (ata133)
1 - 150 gig (sata 150) 2 partitions
1 -TV PVR FM card
1 - SB 5.1 sound card
1 - PNY Verto 5700LE Optima 128DDR 500mhz oc'd @ 646mhz
250 core clock oc'd @ 323mhz
Dual 400mhz ramdac <--- this card kicks
1 - Sony 19in Flat Screen LCD/TV
1- sbv4200 voice over IP Cable Modem
I do video editing with it, have a Samsung progressive scan dvd-v3500 /VHS attached to it, watch TV and presently download @ 4825kbps with optimum online. I'm very happy with it. Just wish the HyperX ran at 400mhz which could handle 434 oc w/ case open. Waiting for water cooling to drop in price.

This motherboard is very picky about memory. I've worked with many motherboard in the past and learned that it's always good to check with support. Memory can't be mixed matched with sizes and company should be approved.

Go to http://www.giga-byte.com and download it there.

Here is a direct link to the BIOS downloads. Just get the latest one which is F15. It has all the updates that the previous versions have plus new ones.
