I have CPU temps of 50c at FULL load, when it's idle they are like 33, now this seems to be a big jump. I have TT Silent Boost HSF and was wondering if I should change that fan out? The heatsink is a nice big copper one. 50c is high under full load, correct?
Thanks

I dont think thats too high...I dont like mine going over 55 deg. But it depends on a few different things, like room temp. and air-flow inside your case. ..Mine get's up to about 55 at full load so i think 50 is ok.

50 is quite high but not dangerous at all, so long as it stays at 50 ur fine

System Spec:
Asrock K7s8x
XP2200@2400
Radeon 9700pro

50 is a little high but it should be okay. What kind of CPU is it and what kind of overclocking are you running? I don't think you should worry to much though. My friend is currently dealing with a 2600+ that likes to toast at almost 70.

I just got a new 2500+ the other day, and it seems to run damn hot, or my mb sensor is screwed, runs at about 52c idle! About 58c under load (seti), funny thing is, even OC'd to 3200+ the temps stay about there, maybe a degree or two higher. Not quite perfectly stable at 3200+ tho, think its memory or vcore seeing as the temp is actually lower at load then it was when it was stock with the case fan blowing out (I reversed it)... Anyone know if most people need to boost the vcore to get a 2500+ up there? Or should I wait for a better cpu fan before I fry it. :)

I used to have those kinds-of temps when I was first overclocking my 2500+. If you get a copper heatsink and fan with some AS5 then the temps will go down. Best of luck.

Hi, Dustin --

Can't comment on the overclocking aspects, but you might be able to reduce your CPU temp just by moving more air through the case.

You might want to read the white paper published by AMD at <http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_...4.pdf>; (pp. 16-20). The main point there is that there should be no more than a 7C temperature rise in the air that passes through the computer case. If the air temp rise is more than that, you're not moving enough air through the case to provide the cooling necessary. Even the best CPU cooler can't do the job if the air temperature around it is too high.

I got FULL 52'C IDLE 30'C and theyre just fine...

Sunbeam OC kit drops temps quite well..

AMD can take the heat, over 60'C is bad. if you got 55'C and it halves the cpu:s lifetime so what nowadays cpu upgrade has to be done atleast once in 2 years? and with 55'C cpu lasts for 4-8 years anyways..

I believe in firepower..

Well, ive just built a newer system, which is:

CPU AMD Athlon XP 2800+ o/c @ 2227Mhz
M/B Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2 (rev 2.0)
Memory 1Gb PC3200 DDR RAM
HSF Thermotake Volcano 7+ Running at 5900-6200rpm
Western Digital WD1200BB-00WA0 @ 120GB
Samsung SP1604N @ 160GB
Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D
GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE Graphics Card - o/c @ 300mhz Core
SoundBlaster Audigy Player 24-Bit, 5.1 Speaker

And basically, using MBM, im getting readings of 47-49 idle and on full load 54-57, and during games etc everything seems fine, so if anyone out there is getting them kind of reading then i wouldnt worry to much, but im no expert :P so dont quote me on that !!!
