I know what NASCAR is...didnt know about the trucks though. ..but i bet the jap-scrap entrance isn't too popular.
Theres no denying that the new 6800 is a powerful card, and the fastest ever to date. But if you look at some of the arguments pro ATI and pro NVidia they are nothing short of rediculous.!! Theres no talking to some of these people...no point in it at all.

How many people actually USE all of their PCI slots in todays computers?
very few because
Audio / LAN are usually built in now in most motherboards so that still elaves you with 3 or 4 PCI slots to use.
Also, anyone who puts a PCI card in the slot below the vid card is asking for heating problems anyways, so why not make use of it by the video card.
The whole argument about an extra PCI slot being taken up is reather lame if you ask me.

I still wont buy the nvidia cards for a while, they need to prove to me that they are no longer using their so called "optimizations" still, everyone thought they were gone in the 43* drives, but then POOF they reappear in the 53* drivers. When i play a game i want to see ALL of the scenes, ALL of the lighting and ALL of the shodows.
I know, other companies cheat, but when ATI got caught - they stopped - NVIDIA conitued to do it and deny they were doing it.
I love my Ti4200 and ti4600 ULTRA and i love my radeon 9700PRO - my next purchase will likely be the 9800 AIW.
Until NVIDIA stops the lying and acting as if we are all sheep and will by their cards because it is faster - i wont.
I guess this compares to AMD and INTEL - NVIDIA being INTEL in trying to make people think that more speed is what is needed - where as ATI is like AMD - the speeds maybe slower - but they are more efficient at what they do and most of the time come out on top anyways.
P.S - Many Sad reviews - comparing the new card to something so old.

What are you talking about? ATI is just as expensive as NVidia........ Their high end cards cost just as much as Nvidia. There are models for both brands that are similiar in price. I do not see why people in this topic seem to be displeased with the performance of Nvidia hardware.. I have a 5900 Ultra, and nothing I have played yet even phases it. Even with AA and AAF turned up.. I plan on sticking with Nvidia because I like knowing that my card is going be reliable and most importantly compatible with my hardware.. All i see in these forums is how "My ATI card is causing my system to lockup/blue screen/not boot" Seems like it is a roll of the dice if an ATI card is going to work properly with various motherboards and other hardware combinations. The one and only ATI product I bought corrupted my registry to the point I had to format. On the other hand, this is about the 4th or 5th Nvidia card I have gotten, and I have never had an issue with compatibility. And there is like no difference at all between image quality between the two brands in my opinion. I have seen games played on both. I personally can not wait for the NV40. It is going to own everything else out there.

I am sorry, but ATI is just as compatible with any hardware - You can HIT any forum and there is JUST as many NVIDIA problems as their is ATI so dont give me that BS - you seem to be an abvious NVIDIA fan boy, that is like saying ATI drivers suck - sorry, but that eneded with their radeon line of cards came out.
and an ATI card corrupted your registry? that is the FIRST time in my life i have ever heard that and i read more forums then planters has peanuts - i think there was far more wrong with your system in that case.
So, just a question - do you like knowing that NVIDIA put optimizations in their drives which remove ENTIRE scenes from games - removes entire shadows and lighting sections? Yet claim this is not true even with the many sites that have proved this time and time again?
Well, if you do, i am sorry to hear that, or are you not familiar with NVIDIA lying tactis to give better performance out of their FX line because the original core design was crap and so often when shader 2.0 was needed the nvidia drivers would tone down to 1.* shader version to "appear" to give good performance....

how can u be so neive and say ATI is gone when they have not even released their next gen. card yet?
I smell "fan boy / nvidiot"
ATI's past cards beat out NVIDIA with slower clock speeds - so who is to say that having 16 pipe's will ensure they have the best card - it wont, also rumour is still out ATI may also have 16 pipes.
You can not compare a 7 months old video card with the newest.
the 6800 is very impressive, but until it is in stores and real people can do real tests - we'll see.

And ++ I got a Vapochill XE whit a overclocked 3.0 Prescott to 4300mhz, Abit IC7 MAX-3 motherboard and 2 x 512 Corshair PC 4400! I cant wait to see what kind of 3dmarks i will get with 6800!

another neive one - you are actually going by the comparision of a NEW card with one that is what 5,6 months old?
that is thew same as comparing a Radeonn 9700 to a G4 ti4200 - they are 2 COMPLETLY DIFFERENT GENERATIONS OF CARDS
You talk about your kick arse precostt system - and yet your reply above makes me doubt your level of intellegence on even being able to overclock because you are willing to accept a comparision of apples and oranges.
You run right out there and buy your new 6800 that is far over priced - then when ATI comes out with their new cards and nvidia comes out with faster then the 6800 you can wish you had waited.
Also, since you seem to like to have the newest and greatest why not be smart and wait for PCIe and those cards - then imagine the scores.
Also - who cares about 3dmark scores - they are not real world benchmarks... sad how many people spend so much money to brag about a score that really means nothing when it comes down to it.

I would have said the same thing if this was an ATI card being released and NVIDIA did not have a card out - i am not an ATI fan boy if that is what you are implying.
For anyone to compare a new product to an old one is rediculous and there is no basis for comparison, and to make a buying decision based on such a comparision is neive.

So Matthau, what you are saying then is the fact that nVidia has come out with a card that takes graphics to the next level, nobody should write about it or what it's about until ATI comes out with a card to compare it to?
