That is not at all what i am saying, nor do i see where you came to that conclusion - what i am saying is that people should not make a buying decision based on the comparisions made between the 2 cards since they are not even in the same equal playing field, that is what i meant by neive as the above people seemed to think that it was fair that NVIDIA is kicking some butt because of benchmarks that were being compared to such an "old" product.

it is nice to read reviews, i love it - NVIDIA has done a gerat job on this card and i cant wait to see what the next few months will bring to us - how ever it will be nice once the cards are actually out in stores and people can bench them themselves and we can get some more tests as so many sites are biased.

This happens every 6 months or so, when a company in the computer world releases a new product and their competitor does not have out their product out yet, people make decisions on bad information.

If you got the money and you like the latest and greatest go crazy and spend your money, but people who blindly buy as the above person seems to want to do based on the provided information and is touting what a fan boy they are is just neive in my opinion and they would be better off waiting until ATI has an equal product out to see what their money would be better suited to buy. An d this would also be vice versa if ATi had out their card and NVIDIA did not, i would wait, along with waiting will come more competitive prices.

YA really doom
Too many damn fan boys who never look at facts. I own a 9800pro and couldnt be more pleased seeing my games run flawlessly and beat the 5950 ULtra in many test on toms hardware.

You may want to read some other reviews - tomshardware is fairly biased in his reviews - it is always best to read 4 or 5 diff reviews to get an over all decision, not just from one often biased source.

I u want to be soo damn specific then i will tell you right now, i look at more than one sorce for my info. I just happen to like toms hardware for right now. But I do look at others like xbitlabs.com, grahpics.wzcz, mags, reviews.zdent.co.uk, etc i hope i answered your statement because not every one here is as ignorant as your wanabeeGURU for pc ass thinks.
thanks.

^^ tim you have some serious anger issues.

All i stated is that tomshardware is not the best source for reviews due to their many biased reviews. no need to start name calling on such a thing.

You seem to like to call people names and explode on them simply because they ask a question or have an opinion and frankly it is really immature, is it that hard to havea civil conversation with people with out calling them names and swearing?

Just because someone reads a few reviews sites does not make them a PC guru at all - just more so a smart consumer.

my video card is ati and always will be, because of one thing:
Remember 3DFX ???
Remember Voodoo 4, Voodoo 5 ???
Nvidia took over (bought) 3DFX company and what happens next ?????
Owners of brand new Voodoo graphics boards lost support and left without drivers for WinXP !!!!
So, tell me how would you feel if ATi take over Nvidia and you had just bought your brand new GEFORCE 6800Ultra and automaticaly lost ALL SUPPORT for it!!!! HA????

>> Re: Re: NV40, NVIDIA gets in the game
^^^^ that is a valid point - but also, can you expect a company to support something that is that old?

ATI for the longest time did not support it rage 64mb video card under XP either or their rage 128 AIW for Xp either.....(finally they decided to) this applies to alot of hardware - companies need to draw the line on how long they will support a product and if it is worth it for them to spend time and money to make drivers for an outdated product which many people have upgraded from or just thrown out..

Most people who have a vodoo likely only have a p2 or maybe early p3 system - which is not the best for running XP unless u get a good 512 of ram.

The graphics card battle between Nvidia and ATI seems to be getting pretty nasty, Nvidia seem like the sort of company who just don't like to have competition, and will do anything to stay undisputed no.1 (just look what they did to 3dfx - remember them?) However its interesting to see how the next gen battle will work out. Nvidia know that what sells cards most, sadly, is 3d mark scores, read any nv40 write up and you'll see rammed in your face, 12,000 on 3d mark 2003! They also know that their card has to get big numbers on the biggest game, hence nv40's good performance with far cry, and the deal they've inked with crytek to use nvidia exclusive pixel shader 3,0 support. (interesting to note that nv40 doesn't offer the massive performance jump on say ut2k4 that it does with the big two just mentioned) Nvidia will obviously try every marketing tactic possible to push out ati, and it's debatable as to whether this actually benefits the gamer, as rather than pushing for all round better value and performance for the gamer, nvidia are just going for the hard sell. If ATI can get out a new card which just slaps nv40, things could get real interesting, especially if ati put out a good high end 'budget card' ala radeon 9800 pro.

My rig:
Athlon xp 2500
MSI K7N2 Delta
1gb PC3200
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
15k 3c mark 2001 5.5k 3d mark 2003

no they are not on sale - they are "pre-order" as thwe web site states

Pre-Order (ETA:05/07/2004)

- considering ATI does not even have the cards mentioned on their web site and wont until May 4th i beleive.

Also i have heard nothing but bad reviews on that site - so i would not trust them anyways to pre-order it - since they do not even have the informantion correct

12 parallel pixel pipelines
256-bit quad-channel GDDR3 memory Interface
8 extreme parallel pixel pipelines
6 parallel vertex processing engines

first they say 12, then they say 8 - and both are wrong - it is 8 x 2 = 16.

hey every one ATI is well aware of the pre ordering with out their permisson that web site is false because they will make the pro not even the XT yet run at 525core and 1120 ramDDR3 it wil also have 16 pipes to compete with Nvi's latest boast about their new upclocking speed.
if u ask me the battle is getting pretty funny.
