Gamers don't usually focus on having the world's greatest CPU. 2400MHz or higher will do for now. Sander was showing what an UPGRADE would be like, whether upgrading from 9800XT to 6800U was worth it. CPU scores don't matter, he used the same rig for all tests, except the card. This being said, you can see that the 6800U is a truly amazing card.

I see.. but I really think they shuld have mention what kind of platform was used. Im still curios, cause it cant be faster then a P4 2.4C.

For those of us with some insight and experience, just showing us the numbers without mentioning what kind of platform used just isnt enough. To be able to compare the numbers with our scores we need the rest :)

Erik,

You should read all the pages, not just the conclusion, it is all in there, we discuss what we used and why.

Kind regards,

It shouldn't matter what the platform was so long as it meets minimum requirements for both cards. That and the machine being used should be the same machine, as apposed to to similar machines (same makes and models..) as there could be slight diferences even beteen same models. Therefore the only real item are the cards themselves being tested/compared. Even PCI cards could be compared in this way to AGP versions. Same machine same (teoretical) results for the same items.

I benched my machine and although there were slight differences with the CPU scores and the graphics scores, overall the bench was exactly the same. (kina surprised me)..

Humm

Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra. Dual Heads. Dual Power. Dual Score. The Duel is over for 3 "D" graphics. :)

I wounder if I could get an advertising spot thingy? :)

How about one word? Sa-wee-ta. That is a word, right?

Price isn't too bad. Wasn't the 9700 Pro at that price range when it was originally released? Yeah.

He left Overdrive off so that's where most of the performance went.

i dont use benchmarks anymore cause they are very biasd, besides they dont determine real world performance, anyways im sure some of the older games will cause a graphics slow down on the 6800, u wait until ATI releases the R423 and R420 on the world.

RE biased. I belive that to be very true.

But still, between similar systems, they aren't too bad.

AMD vs AMD, Intel vs Intel.. with the same specs
Same machine to compare video cards.

If you want an unbiased benchmark. AMD vs Intel isn't possible, because the same machine to test CPU is not possible. Can't just swap one item to compare. The diferences in the chipsets alone on the motherboards would be enough to put doubt there. Crossplatform comparissons are virtually useless just for that reason.
