I dont know why this is happening to me, lets say for example, as im typing this now and i use my mouse to click on the Start button it wont work, it wont let me minimize this page or mazimise any other page on the screen nor will it let me open any other programme from the desktop,

This isnt always the case sometimes it hangs for about a minute, then it will let me, or if i press ctl + alt + del and click on system idle, press end process even though it wont let u end the process lol(of course) it manages to let me use the desktop again but after a while it will freeze again.

Ive used trend virus scanner and norton and found 0 viruses.

Something is corrupting your OS. My money at this point is bad memory. If that 512MB of PC3200 is in two sticks, then remove the first one. And try re-installing the OS with just the second one. Also, you might try using Scan Disk to see if the hard drive is bad. Do it from safe mode.

i did format it, but to no pravail, i got a 1 512 stick and to be honest ive had trouble with physical memory and having to lower the ram from a 400 to a 333 because it was unstable, ill mess about with the ram and hopefully that will work

Sounds like RAM!

Check your DRAM Timmings on you infineon 512 ddr 3200 make sure they are correctly set in BIOS, Not overclocked! Make sure they are set according to the specs for your model RAM!

Also run Memtest86 and see how you do!

yeah thats in single mode, but if i leave it at 200 the system is unstable and i get a blue error screen in windows which restarts my pc, the only way to make it not crash is to lower it to 166, i think it might be either, its a faulty stck or its better to get another 512 ram or a higher power suopply cos i only got a 350 watt and my system is a pretty high spec
