When I bought my pc, it ran like a beast. Now it takes 10 minutes to do anything. Yeah, ive tried the defrag and disk cleanup and all that. What radical measures can i take - apart from formatting - that will speed it up? Ive deleted as much of the third party crap and spyware that loads itself but it is still lurking in there somewhere, and surely it can't make that much difference. And besides, my 120Gb hard disk drive is only 20% full.

Do post specs as previous posts suggest. Also if you're running WinXP try a selective startup. Think back to when the problem began, and anything you may have added to your system that may have caused this slow start-up.
Just reformat and save yourself ALOT of trouble. WinXP doesn't use bootdisks so download one, but it on a disk and use that to wipe your disk clean first. Then install WinXP. I reformat evertime I see real slow down. Just make sure to backup everything important.
